rgaudet Posted April 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Encourage anyone on this voyage to post updates here. This is my first time on QV and if first impressions mean anything, I'm impressed. A beautiful ship. I'm in a category Ba stateroom and impressed with it too. Very functional and comfortable. And the balcony is a terrific size. (Hope for good weather to use it!) We are planning on departing between 530 and 6 pm. It is a great day for a sail out. Sunny and 16 degrees. Will make for great photos and great viewing from the New York webcams! I will update here and on my blog below Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mysticalmother Posted April 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Oh and This is my first voyage as Gold status. First benefit: not just a half, but a full bottle of Pol Acker! Rob Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You call that a benefit? A whole bottle of pole axer is a punishment!:D But have a great trip - a TA is an experience not to be missed, and the QV is a lovely ship. (Still prefer the QM2 for a TA though!) rgaudet Posted April 26, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted April 26, 2015 Sailaway was special. So sunny. Escorted out by nypd and armed coast guards was interesting! Sunny cool and calm seas sunday morning. Great lecture by a retires inspector from Essex police force about murder investigations. Cunard really does a great job of enrichment on crossings. Too bad we lose an hour at noon today. Rob Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

rgaudet Posted April 27, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted April 27, 2015 Cold day yesterday, high of 7. Tried to find a sheltered spot in the sun but if even a small cloud came along, it was too cold for me to sit out. Tried walking then promenade later but the weather was worse. One lap with my glasses covered with salt was enough. We had a nice CC meet and greet yesterday with about 10 of us showing up. Not surprisingly we are largely ship junkies. We met for about 1.5 hours and decided to meet again later in the week. How nice! We set the clocks forward an hour at noon. I've done it before but it really compresses the day. I think we take today off before moving forward tomorrow again. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
rgaudet Posted April 28, 2015 Author #15 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Well here is some excitement. Just before 11 am the ship was moving quite a bit including some heavy vibrations as if pitching forward . The commodore came on the pa to say that we are stopping the propulsion system to deal with an urgent issue. The ship will stop in the water and be hit with swells causing the vibration. He said it is safe but may be uncomfortable. On the tv it says we are doing 8 knots at the moment. Will relay more info as I get it. rgaudet Posted April 28, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted April 28, 2015 By noon we were back underway. The issue was resolved quickly and the commodore restated that we were always safe. Ride is smoother, back to the gentle movement in moderate seas. Rob Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

rgaudet Posted April 29, 2015 Author #18 Share Posted April 29, 2015 Wasted an hour this morning to get my passport stamped by UK immigration. Only one officer working. There must be a better way. I had a pub lunch in the golden lion. Then miraculously the sun came out. I rushed out to the aft deck and sat out for 45 mins before the miracle ended and we are back to clouds and fog. I am invited to a hosted table tonight...first time ever. Not sure why, but it's a very nice offer. I'm looking forward to it. Food last night was great. The two previous nights I found the main courses in mdr to be Luke warm. Last night it was nice and hot. We had a woman join our table who had some trouble finding a good table. It started with her sitting at a table for 10 by herself. I think she had a good time at our table...it's a good group. All for now. rgaudet Posted April 30, 2015 Author #22 Share Posted April 30, 2015 At 745 pm it was time for the world club party. Not surprisingly it was packed . I think the majority of the people on board are frequent Cunard travellers. The also recognize the individuals with the most nights on Cunard. There were 4 or 5 people with over 1000 nights on board. I like being on board but cannot imagine spending that much of my life on these ships. I chatted with one of the hotel managers, the fellow who called to invite me to dinner. I asked him why I was chosen and he said they try to get a mix but it also depends on the type of people those hosting will want. Seems these folks wanted a younger table! I don't get called that too often anymore but on this ship I guess I am! I the proceeded to dinner. We were hosted by two young members of the staff, the communications manager and a manager for hotel and client facing staff, Rebecca and George. Both were very nice and they bought the wines for dinner. (Much better than I had been buying!). There were 7 guests in total, and a nice mix of backgrounds. It was a fun evening and nice to meet other guests. I went to have a nightcap and a couple I had met earlier were there and invited me to join them and another couple. It was James Bond theme night so all the wait staff were dressed in tuxedos and the piano player mixed in some bond music. This morning it is still warm and the sun is poking through. Hope to spend as much time as possible on deck in the sun. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Rare rafinmd Posted May 1, 2015 #25 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Rob, is there a space on the ship set aside for full World Cruisers? When I was on QV is was a section of the Commodore Club. Roy
