PRINCESSTHE BEST Posted July 9, 2015 #26 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Malta is a great little island. Steeped in history, I love it!!! Tunis? Ugh!!
Host Sharon Posted July 9, 2015 #27 Share Posted July 9, 2015 I agree - Malta is lovely but have been three times before and on this occasion won't manage the steep streets following knee surgery. Also it will be heaving with all those other passengers. I find the narrow, winding medinas etc of the Arab countries - Tunisia, Morocco etc fascinating - love them - but accepted we can't go there. Just hoped for a replacement more off the beaten track like southern Italy perhaps.
jenny wren Posted July 9, 2015 #28 Share Posted July 9, 2015 We got the lift up to town on our last visit to Valletta....short level walk to the right as you leave terminal....queue but it moved quickly and there we were in ?Barraca gardens overlooking the harbour! Well worth the one or two euros it cost :)
jeanlyon Posted July 9, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) I am delighted we are not going to tunis, but I think they could have told us? Jenny, looks like yours is 3 days before us. Edited July 9, 2015 by jeanlyon

jeanlyon Posted July 9, 2015 Author #31 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Interesting - just heard on the BBC news that the Foreign Office has changed its travel advice and now says All but essential travel to tunisia should be avoided. Another threat is likely.
LondonTowner Posted July 9, 2015 #32 Share Posted July 9, 2015 FCO has also advised all British nationals to leave the country. Thomson and Thomas Cook have cancelled their summer programmes.
