Rock of Ages on Breakaway

I saw Rock of Ages last November and I will be cruising the Breakaway again next March and wondering if this show will be replaced by another. I really don't want to see it again. Didn't really like it the first time.

Production shows in general are rarely replaced. When it is a Broadway show with all the specialized sets, lighting, etc., not to mention the cost of being able to do it at sea, the odds of it being changed out any time soon are slim to none.

I cannot sit through it again....3 times is enough for me. There is a very low probability they will change it in the near future unless many many many people complained about it.

Given the average life cycle, the Breakaway's ROA show is likely not to be replaced for another year and a half to two - maybe they will do it sooner, since it's now in-house NCL production (vs. Jean Ann Ryan Co. in the old days). There "should" be plenty of advance notice of such changes down the road.

We saw it for a 2nd. time this March, and thought some of the scripts were changed slightly for the better - but the physical acting sequence in some of scenes, IMO, can be a turnoff even when it's clearly adult-oriented. Just like 2014, we saw people walking out in the middle of the show - perhaps rushing to dinner instead, who knows ...

The design of the "smallish" BA theater (main) is the worst - those thinly padded chairs itself are just plain horrible to sit thru for 2 hours, everyone in the row has to rise to let others pass thru - coming in or leaving early / restroom break, etc.

The theater in the Dawn/Jewel class ships are far nicer - the *Away ones felt more like sqeezing into a modern micro-cinema. In contrast, those on RCI and CCL are much superior. We basically skipped BTF this time - once is enough, on top of the reservation mess during our recent "test" phrase - now, back to reservations but still open seating.

I saw ROA on the Breakaway last week. Script tweaks made it a better than the show I saw two years ago on Breakaway's inaugural Bermuda run. For what it's worth; I found the theater great, the seats comfortable.

That bar on the seat bottom a few inches from the back didn't bust your butt? Those seats are terrible! Saw ROA in January. Fortunately on our 12 day cruise the ROA cast did a few special shows. They are much better musicians and vocalists than they showed in ROA.

Neither myself or my wife had any issues w the seats. The show does advise that it has "adult language" so folks that are sensitive to that should skip.

We thought the show was great.

I agree with you. The seats are one of the worst that I have ever sat in. I only saw the show once last June and loved it but I probably wouldn't watch it more then two times.

We have also seen it 3 times, but we are booked again to Bermuda, so we will probably go to see it again, mostly for the music.......and..we gotta leave the casino sometimes.

We really really wish NCL could change the shows around more often. and second city is on so many ships....same...same old,,,,,but I still crack up at the "blow up doll" skit

Safe sailing
