cl61447 Posted June 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2015 Does anyone have knowledge of good or bad features of the aft cabins on the Eurodam? i am looking into VB6166 thru VB6177. The loooong walk is not a factor for me.

The loooong walk is not a factor for me. 4166 and 4168 have double wide balconies (due to a service stairwell between them). We were in 4166 and it was great! 4168 has a shower only, not a tub/shower combination. There were no noise issues related to the stairwell. It is close to the dining room and a quick elevator ride to the Lido. Take a look at the post - with a picture showing the balcony size: http://forums.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=26525933&postcount=9 Edited June 19, 2015 by Boytjie
cruz chic Posted June 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2015 I like those rooms. Just be aware that you will feel more vibration in those cabins. Some folks seem to be sensitive to that.

Good features are the Verandah size and the solitude.. Bad Feature is that if you are doing a warm/hot climate cruise the sun is intense in the aft cabins. Solution is to close the curtains during the day. Only other drawback to it is that the overhang does not cover as much as I like, but that is just me. Here are a few of the photos from NA's 6164 which is 6166 on Eurodam. I have more if you wish? Joanie Edited June 19, 2015 by IRL_Joanie

But when exactly did you stay in 6164? - I don't see it listed there. Your pics have today's date on them, but I wonder if the furnishings have been spruced up since the photos were taken. Do you know? I am on the NA next May, on deck 6.
IRL_Joanie Posted June 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) Here are a couple more photos to show NA's 6164 that I took when we were on her 28 November 2010. I did a review, but cannot find it right now. It was a cruise we will never forget because we did an In Room Dining White Cloth service on our verandah, we had a waterspout form just as we passed by the condos as we left Ft Lauderdale, we had quite a number of CC members with us as we did a Sail Away Party and the most fun of all (for me it was, not for hubby, Krazy Kruisers and others) the Roller Coaster ride as we tendered off Grand Cayman and the waves were a rockin and a rollin as both we and the Ryndam danced with the wave action....LOL I love roller coasters. These are to show the verandah's covering from Deck 7 directly overhead, the views to the verandahs above and below that you can see and the wooden ramp is just to show what the ship will do to make sure that all of our visitors could have access to the verandah. We had 1 guest, a fellow CC member who is a paraplegic and could not, obviously, make it out onto the verandah, so the ship's carpenter made this for him. One of the ramp photos shows my POC just inside the door. My thanks to a CC member above for pointing out my signature was incorrect. Which means that now I have to hunt down my records for when we were in NA's VF 8154....Possibly 2011...I just do not remember... So on to the photos: Joanie Edited June 20, 2015 by IRL_Joanie
bajakiter Posted June 20, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) Hi, we were in 6177 on the Eurodam in March/April for 5 weeks. Three weeks in the Caribbean and then across to Barcelona. I don't think we ever mentioned the "vibration" to each other so it couldn't have been that noticeable. We really like the stern cabins but last time we were on deck 8 which has the Lido pool deck above and more overhang for shade.. We use the balcony a lot and there is not as much overhang for shade on 6177 so we were often driven off the balcony by the sun/heat. Especially in the Caribbean. So next time depending on the itinerary,we would try for deck 8 if possible. Enjoy the Eurodam. Our favorite HAL ship. Joanie I don't mean to quibble, but there's quite a difference between the Nieuw Amsterdam's 6164 - an aft corner Neptune Suite, and the Eurodam's 6166 - a regular Verandah cabin. Not nearly as much room in the cabin or the balcony for 6166, but still a great location for watching the ship's wake. BTW, I love your pictures! Smooth Sailing ! :) :) :) Gerry

Globaliser Posted July 9, 2015 #15 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Can you tell me why deck 7 is better?AIUI, the balconies are deeper on 7 and 8, but 8 has the disadvantage of being directly underneath the pool area at the aft end of 9.

Is it only the balconies that are bigger? A couple of posters on other threads have suggested that the cabins are a little wider or longer than other V cabins. Do you know if this is correct? That would require proper measurement. However, I doubt that the cabins are wider. It seems to me that they can't be, as there are the same number of cabins across the ship on each of these decks.
