Going to the casino on Anthem is like "Cheers" where everybody knows your name... Kim was on our 5 day. I showed the picture to her of what I had taken of her huge slot win from December - and then I emailed it to her.

Either of you doing a beach bash? We are on Navigator Dec. 9 ABC islands. May go early and do Navigator beach bash. But we already have plane tix so not sure if airfare price will be worth the change...

I know exactly what you mean where they all know your name. Looking forward to seeing some of the same dealers as the casino has a great crew working there. I believe one of the slot attendants we had last year came back to Anthem, his name is Macguire.

Kim and I play the same machine  so hopefully she won't be on my sailing next week. She had some amazing and unbelievable wins on that machine last year and saw practical all of them while I was there.

Received the BBQ bash invite, we'll be Anthem, so we'll have to pass this time.

KIm is going on Oasis in October and then twice next year. She said she is not going to beach bash - she did it 2 years in a row.

All I can say is :eek::eek: Big difference in dollars as to what is currently being offered that I posted above to Nick.

Spoke to CR yesterday and they said they were not aware of any changes to the point system *yet*, time will tell.

I know!! I was shocked!!!

Dinner at Chop's was listed as 5000 points!!:eek:

I hope it was just the Mediterranean cruises. The casino was totally dead the entire cruise, not even enough people for the slot/blackjack tournaments. The host told me that it is always like that in Europe. Oh well, at least I got something back! And I do like that the certificates are good for a full year!

Happy cruising!

5000 points for Chops, that is totally insane. Each time I crusie on Anthem, I get a card for a comp for any specialty restaurant along with a bottle of wine. No way am I redeeming points for a dinner as 5000 points for me is a free balcony or $1000 off a cruise. I'll make sure I don't go on Rhapsody . Who was your Casino Host?

Thanks for the info. and best of luck to you in the casino on your next sailing :)

Pablo was the casino host. Honestly on Allure and Freedom we didn't spend points at all to get Chops or wine or anything and my Certificates are always like yours. This was the first time I had ever seen this type of system. Hopefully it stays in Europe!!

Thanks and good luck to you as well!!

I think I may have totally misunderstood what you said with the 5000 points for a dinner. Are you saying you had to redeem the points for the Chops dinner or you needed 5000 points or more to get a Chops dinner?

Yes. That is correct. I realize redeeming points is different from earning the certs, but still, 5000 seemed excessive for a $70 dinner.

The cruise certs are based on the points you earn but are a separate perk. You also redeem those same points before you leave that cruise for a token gift. The gifts for each level of points don't seem to relate but given you are getting money off your cruise or a free cruise for those points the level of the gifts then makes sense i.e. free T-shirt, $20 or $40 free play, dinner at a speciality restaurant etc.

The host may also comp you for a dinner at a specialty but based on what others have said - they dock your final point counts for the cert based on the comps they have given you.

Linda - I read on another post they cancelled the shows on the Anthem because of the incredible winds. I assume the casino stayed open...

enjoy Bermuda.:)

Hi Cheryl

Wind condition was 100 mph

Yes, Spectra and Gift were rescheduled for the safety of the performers. There were other things to do that night. Music Hall, which is my favorite place to hang out, had the Journey tribute band (DSW) playing for 90 mins. We've seen them before and they are great. After DSW, Music Hall had the house band "Rock the Boat", which again we've seen before and enjoyed them and we see them nightly .The casino stayed opened all day on Sunday, very few people in there during that day, many more came in at night. They also added on Sunday night a Billy Joel tribute in 270, the singers were great !!!!!

Keith and I were fine during the many, many hours of rocking and rolling and didn't get sick, many others did. When the Captain came on for his 12 o'clock update, he played the song "I love Rock and Roll", loved it. Captain was great and gave us many updates on sea conditions during that day and night .

Heard Anthem was all over the news, I guess there was no other news for the media to report and someone on the ship wanted their 5 mins. of fame. It's hurricane season and "everyone" was well aware of this storm, tired of hearing and people saying Anthem is cursed. Went through many storms on Explorer, that never made the news, it's the chance you take during hurricane season,

I saw a glass panel that broke at the pool, which is now replaced and read Ripcord had a little damage to the plexiglass, which as of today , we couldn't see any damage.

All in all, we're having a great time and have nothing to complain about, life is too short.

Paul and I agree completely on the idiots who say the Anthem is cursed. It is Hurricane season and anyone in the Caribbean or Atlantic takes a chance on the weather at this time of year. And life is too short.... enjoy the rest of your time on board.

Also heard the news was showing pictures of Anthem from the Feburary storm, totally idiots.

We have a busy night in Music Hall again, along with the casino :)

Talk to you soon :)

Sailing on Oct. 2nd on Liberty of the seas and I am a Club Royale member. Yesterday I decided to call and see if there was any events going on. There is and they said I did have any invitation. It's a $10,000 slot tourny and VIP BBQ Beach Bash. So they added me to the group. WOO HOO. I'm so glad I called. Has anyone ever been on the BBQ Beach Bash and is it fun? Is there shrimp on the barby?:)

We did BBQ Beach bash in December in Cancun at Playa Mia Grand Beach and Water Park last year. It was great fun! Lots of Tequilla (DH and friends enjoyed...) beer, other drinks as well. Beach and beach toys/ water slides, lounge chairs. Pools. Covered tables. Very Nice buffet! Live music and games. There also are facilities for massages but that is individual paying..It rained in the morning on the way from the ship to the busses. drizzled a bit when we were there. If that's where they are doing this year, you will have a great time.

Linda - Andy performing Dec. 9 Navigator. You going?

:(No, are you?

I just got the invite today from CR, we're on Anthem on that date. At least we'll see Andy perform again in the casino next month on Anthem :D which is the CR Golf event.

Link below is from the main board about CR, my patience is running thin with his rants about smoking on some of his postings.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2402118

Spoke to CR yesterday and they explained the same info he posted in that thread above. CR also said they will be assigning us tier levels in the third and final phase of their new program, but could not tell me when that will go into effect. And, was also advised, they will be adding many more CR events for 2017.

We've had a booking on Nav Dec. 9 since February. Called today to see if they can "merge" the offer so we get party, Andy...

The ranter originally only posted to get his CC posts elevated. and he admitted to it. He is pretty obnoxious. I am sure you and I know many people who have been CR members way before ranter. Ranter has posted about not being able to reserve suites on cruises he wants - when he wants them.

I remember when he first started to post and talked about not be able to get a suite and blaming other people for booking them and then they cancelled them, now he moved on to smoking, others don't want to hear him either.

Oh, you're so lucky you're on that sailing with Andy. If we were not seeing Andy in October, I would cancel my Dec cruise now and we join you guys. Nice itinerary you have for that sailing, love Aruba, oh well, life is good anyway. We booked a B2B on Harmony for Sept. 2017, come join us :)

Linda,

I just wanted to say Bravo - I loved your answer on the main board.

I am heading to Anthem this weekend - I am not happy that they are getting rid of dynamic dining later this year.

It should be a crowded casino, although I am not in the 'spa' group.

See you in October.

Tami

O.k. You got m, who is Andy?

You are right about the poster on the main board, looks like any offer he is getting is on the MJ or Empress, and the empress would be good for him it's non smoking. Of coups it worries me based in what they are saying about he new program and current play time. We will not spend as much on Empress next week, would hate to be on a hot machine only to have to leave it for a smoke.

We should be safe if they keep their word on the part of us people that have been part of the club for years.

Andy is Andy Avery. Great performer and does singing impersonations of some famous entertainers. I have seen him perform in the casino on Oasis (or maybe it was Allure?) and last year holiday cruise on Anthem. Linda has seen him many more times than I have. He is really a wonderful entertainer - enjoyed by passengers and dealers and bartenders in the casinos on Royal ships. And his conga lines thru the casino is sooooo much fun!!!
