ILuvCruisin' Posted August 13, 2015 Author #106 Share Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) Thanks to APDMOM for these wonderful shots: The Pools: Starting with the H2O zone:We always use the pools early in the morning - around 9 or 10 a.m. - to avoid too much sun. Tips: 1.We never had trouble finding a chair by one of the pools. However, if you have al larger group, you may need to get there early to get seats together. 2. We do try to use most of the ship public areas when people are in port. This trip was for the ship, so we enjoyed the quiet pools, mini golf, etc. However, I was disappointed that many activities, like the Flowrider, Zipline, Carousel, and Rock Climbing wall are closed for a majority of the port day. So, plan accordingly. I was happy to see that the pool in the H2O/Kids' zone was a reasonable depth on Oasis (2'5" to about 3'5"). It is much too deep on Freedom class ships. ILuvCruisin' Posted August 13, 2015 Author #107 Share Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) I did not visit the H2O Zone but it had a lot of action every day. Your kids will love it. From Royal's Website: "H2O Zone Sports Pool The H2O Zone integrates colorful sculptures around a series of sprinklers, jets and water canons that guests can use to soak each other. In the evening, it transforms into a beautifully lit sculpture garden." The Wave Pool in the H2O Zone Nobody can ever say they couldn't find a deck chair (or two) on Oasis...the ones near the main pool may have been crowded but there are chairs everywhere...lounges and chairs...sun and shade... ILuvCruisin' Posted August 16, 2015 Author #111 Share Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) The poll closes at 5PM today. The results so far surprise me: in the Windjammer. 67 43.79% any where but the Windjammer. 86 56.21% I really would have thought most people ate their first meal in the Windjammer...hmmmm must be a lot of repeat cruisers that answered the poll..... Am I the only one surprised by the results so far? Edited August 16, 2015 by ILuvCruisin'
ILuvCruisin' Posted August 16, 2015 Author #112 Share Posted August 16, 2015 Near the elevators you will see the WayFinders. Besides having a wonderful way to check Menus and things to do these interactive screens will show you how to get there. I like carrying my compass with me at all times (mainly because I highlight things I am interested in and looking at the compass thru the day reminds me of them) so I didn't necessarily use them for seeing what was happening at the time but the ability to check out the food venue menus and how busy they were came in quite helpful...also several times I used them to tel me how to get where I wanted go.... ILuvCruisin' Posted August 16, 2015 Author #113 Share Posted August 16, 2015 WOO!!!APDMOM is making me HUNGRY!!! Food!!! Check this out. YUMMY!!!! Let's move on to some Food Pics I managed to grab before we devoured the meals: TIPS: 1. At Park Café, you can get just a bag of potato chips for a snack later in your room or on the balcony. We did this to enjoy chips and wine on the balcony. 2. You can ask for the bread of the Kümmelweck Sandwich only. I liked getting a bowl of soup, the roll of the Kümmelweck, and then got butter from the salad station to put on the bread. Yum! The Famous Kümmelweck:Although I enjoyed it, it was a bit too fatty for my taste. Some of my favorite desserts in Park Café: Park Café has excellent soup every day: ...And since I LOVE soup, I ordered the mushroom bisque as a main course in the dining room one night. TIP: You can order most appetizers as a main course. If you are not very hungry or nothing on the main menu stands out to you, you can even just order two appetizers and ask the waiter to bring one appetizer with the main courses of the rest of your group. Some more food choices from the Main Dining Room: (I forgot to write down the names, but will try to remember) Escargots was available: TIP: You can get tortilla chips with sour cream and guacamole from the kids' menu every night. You do not have to be a kid! Our son had this every night. One night it was on the main menu with salsa in stead of guacamole:
ILuvCruisin' Posted August 16, 2015 Author #114 Share Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) More Food Porn from APDMOM Like Mother, Like Daughter... My mom ordered two soups for an appetizer one night: I don't remember the names, but I think this was the fried rice balls: It's a mystery, but it was good: Great Pavlova! I should have ordered 3... The bread pudding is not quite as good as on Celebrity, but it is still a great choice: Edited August 16, 2015 by ILuvCruisin'
ILuvCruisin' Posted August 16, 2015 Author #115 Share Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Thanks to APDMOM for the Yumminess! Some of my personal favorite dinner choices: - Lamb Shank - Artichoke Crepes - Chicken Marsala I really enjoyed each dinner this time and cannot say that I will not order anything from this past week again. I must have made all the right choices! On that note, it is time for me to start thinking about cooking dinner for my family. I will be back later with a wrap-up of the ship pictures. I wish I could say that I enjoyed every meal like APDOM but it seems this cruise there were several dinners that I couldn't find anything I really wanted on the menu...one night I even ordered a hamburger and fries...that just meant I had plenty of room for dessert!!! :D :p actually though, I did have several of the Yummies above in APDMOM's posts... I could have eaten in another venue but I wanted to have dinner with the rest of the group...it was a time where we could share what we did that day (we didn't all hang together all day, that is one the beauties about cruising, everybody can do their thing and come together at different times and you don't have to worry who has the car or who's out by themselves or I really don't like museums, they are boring but I don't want to stay in the hotel room by myself all day so I'm coming to the boring museum with you all) at dinner time we also talk about the night's events..... of course it really goes without saying that you will not starve on Oasis...there are just too many choices... ILuvCruisin' Posted August 17, 2015 Author #117 Share Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) She is GORGEOUS in this one... Oasis arriving in Fort Lauderdale on boarding day!:) We got a room at the Hyatt Pier 66 just so I could watch the arrival!:o There are several hotels you can stay at to see the ships docked. We've stayed at a couple of them before. When I wake up and see them in all their glory my heart just seems to skip a beat! ILuvCruisin' Posted August 18, 2015 Author #118 Share Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) Poll Results: On Embarkation Day we like to eat in the Windjammer. 69 44.52% any where but the Windjammer. 86 55.48% Voters: 155. This poll is closed Thanks to all who participated in the poll. I really apprecate you taking the time to do it. So most of you eat somewhere else on Embarkation Day other than the Windjammer. As stated before, we usually eat our first meal in the Windjammer. Yes, sometimes it is crowded even though we board early but it seems like the easiest place to eat when you travel with a group. Everybody can find something that they want to eat. Depending on how much time after we eat before the 1:00 cabin openings we may go to the dining room next. We check the location of our tables and make certain where everyone is seated and that the tables are relatively near each other. This is especially important if there's more than one table for the group. One thing to remember before you even sit down to eat is if you have issues that you need to see Guest Services about please be sure to do this first. The later you wait the busier they will get. Also, If you need to change or add your dining room reservation be sure to do this right away. Check the Cruise Compass (you can get one from Guest Services without waiting in line) to see the times the Maitre D is available. By then they usually announce that cabins are open so we head to the cabin to drop the carry ons and check out the space. Then it's off to explore the ship. I always like to get acclimated to the ship and where our cabin is in relation to the important places before Sailaway....you know... like the buffet, the Main Dining Room, the Specialty Restaurants, where might I have pizza late at night, the ice cream machine.....so you can see where my head is right...:D LOL..oh yeah and I like to be sure I know where Guest Services is.... Hi alocsin: In Periscope settings it asks you if you want to auto-save your Broadcast...Periscope will automatically save it to your phone and Voila you can upload it to YouTube I think you can select to save the video before you begin the Broadcast as well if you don't want it to Auto save every video but I prefer the auto-save that way I can choose the ones I want to upload to YouTube and not have to remember to click the save icon every time I understand there is an app you can upload to and it will show the hearts and the chat but I haven't tried that one yet... Yes, alocsin, I think auto-save is the way to go with Periscope. The picture made it look just as delish as it was!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. :p When is your next cruise? Thank you so much for watching my scopes while I was on the cruise and for participating in the chat. It was really so nice to see all of the wonderful people every day. I so appreciated everyone taking the time to join in and to watch the replays. The interaction between the broadcaster and those in the chat is what I love about Periscope. That is just a great feature that is nice to have so you can find out where every one is from and if they have any questions you can answer them right then and there. It is amazing that people come in from all over the world to chat with you. Thanks for riding with a sistah! I hope you stick around. More to come!
