When do Christmas decorations go up!?

We just booked a cruise for the end of November and my hubby asked if they will be decorated for Christmas. He is thinking maybe we can get a nice last minute Christmas card picture. Does anyone know when they decorate and what they do?

Decorations start going up around Thanksgiving and stay up till after New Years.

I normally cruise the week of thanksgiving and they always set up decorations and the Christmas tree the day after thanksgiving.

A couple years ago we sailed Dec. 5 on a 4 night cruise and they didn't start decorating until the day we got back to port. They put out a schedule that has the dates all ships get decorated. Some are earlier than others.

Carnival contracts with a company for their Christmas decorating. The schedule for the ships was posted here on CC a while back.

Just don't plan on it and then it will happen. I know there were a few upset people last year when the decorations went up a week after what was scheduled.

Last Dec when I got off of Paradise on 8 Dec, they were going up that day. On a previous cruise on Celebrity they were up late Nov.

We're planning on book an early in the month, December cruise in 2016 specifically for the holiday atmosphere. I'll be so disappointed if the decorations aren't up.

Last year they decorated Liberty in Port Canaveral on Nov 28 (our sailing day). Fascinating to watch with everything else going on.

 

John Heald usually posts the dates on his "page" in early October.

Don't get too hopeful for them-- they *might* decorate on Dec 2 in Florida, depending on when they start this year, but historically speaking, the Pride is the next to last ship and is usually decorated on Wednesday during the 2nd week of December while they are in Canaveral.

 

In 2011 they started on the Elation on Nov 19 and finished on the Ecstasy on Dec 15. The Pride was done on Wed Dec 14.

In 2012 they started on the Dream on Nov 17 and finished on the Pride on Wed Dec 12.

In 2013 they started on the Paradise on Nov 16, and finished on the Ecstasy on Dec 12. The Pride was done on Wed. Dec 11.

In 2014 they started on the Breeze Nov 22 and finished on the Pride on Sun Dec 7 (She was sailing from Tampa at the time).

This year's schedule should be released on JH blog and fb around mid sept, sometimes it comes out closer to Oct. The Pride is the only ship I've ever noticed an actual predictable pattern to though.

Ok, that's way too early in my opinion. Christmas decorations shouldn't be put up until after Thanksgiving at the earliest.

Thank you! We're looking at a 2016 Christmas cruise but at least I'll know to check the decorating schedule. I just assumed EVERY ship was decorated for the entire month of December.

We sailed the Dream last year the week after Thanksgiving. The decorations were not up.
