Posh beach recommendations?

No money required upfront. We paid cash when we got there. Not sure if they do or don't allow drinks to be brought in. They never asked us...but I did bring 3 water bottles and some vitamin waters from the ship. No there is not a beach side bar unfortunately.

I am planning to go there next week. I emailed them and they replied they accept credit cards. Pay when you get there, not in advance

Great review - thanks. This sounds absolutely perfect. My sister and I will be in Bermuda next week and she really wants to go to the beach. She uses a mobility scooter and can walk short distances. Our concern is that if we went to a public beach she couldn't get out of the heat if she needed it. This may be exactly what we need. Definitely sounds like it's worth the money, especially if it includes lunch.

I noticed in the pictures you posted that there's a big set of stairs to get to the beach. Do you know if there's another way to the beach itself. That set of stairs would be too much for my sister.

I just sent a message to Vince to ask some specific questions about access.

Got a response from Vince yesterday about access to the beach. Unfortunately there are lots of stairs (both to the pool and the beach). Won't work for us. Also contacted Elbow Beach resort. Not very accessible either. Guess we're stuck with Snorkel Beach next to Dockside.

When we were there I did see them escorting some guest via golf cart. I am not sure how far or exactly where they were able to take them down but you could always ask if they were able to do that.

There is A LOT of steps to the beach. I had a hard time coming back up. But I would say there was probably 6 or so steps down to the pool. I have knee issues and the pool was a breeze for me.

If you take a taxi to Horseshoe they take you right down close to the beach.

If you are interested in booking the resort here is the information:

Vince Angelo is who I contacted to book my reservation VAngelo@CocoReef.bm

The day pass for Coco Reef Resort is currently $69 per person. It includes access to the resort, its changing facilities, towels, loungers, an umbrella, & a 2 course lunch w/ one alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice. (I ordered an additional beer (bud light) and it was $6.50 plus automatic gratuity of 17%) In regards to lunch I compared the day pass menu items w/ the regular menu for gratuity purposes… appetizer prices are $8-12 each & entrees were $16-22 each.

Children 12 & under are free however it does not include lunch so that must be purchased separately for them. Unfortunately I did not take a photo of the kids menu but it included the following options peanut butter & jelly sandwich w/ fries, grilled cheese w/ fries, buttered noodles or noodles w/ sauce, cheeseburger w/ fries, or chicken tenders & fries. All items were $12 each.

If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer. :)

You can email them to reserve day pass. You do not have to pay until you get there, cash or credit card.

We had a wonderful day there at the end of August. The beach is beautiful and not crowded at all. The whole resort is gorgeous and we had a delicious lunch with glass of wine. Staff was lovely. My family of 5 adults took a taxi/van from the dockyards. Going home we had Coco Reef call a cab, which we took to Hamilton (much shorter ride), did some shopping and then took ferry to Dockyards. Fabulous day!

The only issue with this resort is that you can't have mobility issues and be in relatively good cardiovascular health because there are stairs to climb from the beach

We went this past week, and enjoyed perfect weather along with a relaxing day at this resort, which has a nice pool and beach access down many stairs. There are lounge chairs and umbrellas you can use. Not crowded at all.

However, there was no outside beverage service at all! The inside bar did not open until noon, and you couldn't even get a bottle of water before then! So pick up a few bottles of water on your way.

The downstairs beach bathroom is full of sand, and not clean, but does have a shower. They do request you not eat in your wet bathing suit at lunch, so bring a change of clothes, and exchange your beach towel so you can shower and dry without being sandy!

The lunch was delicious with excellent service.

For those wh made reservations, how long did it take to get an email response from them? I have sent two emails, one 8 days ago and one yesterday, and have not heard back.

Also, do those stairs to and from the beach have rails on them?

Thanks.

The stairs do have rails, but there are many stairs. If you get up to the point of where there is a paved path which is 3/4 the way up, a gentleman is there to give you a lift to the entrance with a golf cart. But it really is too late. lol We ate on the outdoor terrace, so we didn't need to change. Just wore modest cover ups.

Going down the stairs to the beach is not too bad, it's climbing back up that's a killer. But I took my time climbing up to go to lunch. A nice gentleman did give me a ride in a golf cart to the restaurant from the top of the beach stairs. Then after a delicious lunch on the patio (wore my coverup over bathing suit), I opted to not go back down to the beach but stayed at the gorgeous pool for the rest of the day.

I love Horseshoe Bay but over the years, the crowds have sometimes made it a less than enjoyable experience. I have never visited Elbow Beach and the amenities described at the Coco Reef resort make it an attractive option. I am wondering if anyone can tell me how it compares to Horseshoe Bay from aesthetic perspective. Will I be mesmerized by its beauty as I am at Horseshoe Bay? Thanks.

I don't think it compares from an aesthetic perspective, that is purely a subjective opinion, but it is still a beautiful beach. You should go there and decide on your own. I never would have been able to have my opinion if I had not went to Elbow myself. It could be you might like Elbow better.

Also depends whether you prefer swimming in ocean or bay and whether you prefer being surrounded by hundreds of others and being inches away from others on the beach or being on a quiet peaceful beach with plenty of space.

Horseshoe would win hands down if there were the same amount of visitors as Elbow Beach. If you value solitude and having the water almost to yourselves add points for Elbow. We went to both. Win Win :) That's the beauty of a Bermuda Cruise -- three days in Bermuda. No need to choose.

You can have solitude at Horseshoe if you move away from the facility area. People seem to like to be near the other people but the other end of the beach toward Warwick is practically empty. If you look at these pictures you won't see hundreds of people.

Again all you have to do is walk to the other side and you can gave solitude. I hate to say this but cruise passengers tend to be somewhat lazy.
