motleyfan Posted July 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Both seem to have positives Blue Lagoon includes food and Atlantis includes a bunch of water slides and the lazy river and a bunch of other cool things. I am actually very torn. What has been everybody's experiences at Atlantis and Blue Lagoon?
david_sobe Posted July 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2015 This is an easy one. Atlantis by a mile. Everyone should do Atlantis once in their life. Besides the river and out of this world slides......the beach is better and is a real beach on the ocean. Blue Lagoon is some sort of canal and where you swim is not in the ocean. Everyone on planet Earth should do the Leap of Faith once in their life
teachatthebeach Posted July 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Are you going for the dolphins or just the beach/water park? I've done the dolphin swim at both and the experience at Blue Lagoon was far superior.
golfer1903 Posted July 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2015 really depends what you want to get out of it. Blue lagoon is paradise, nicest swimming water, great beach dolphin swim but thats about it just relax. if you want rides and building and inside scenery and gambling the atlantis. SissasMomE Posted July 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Is Blue Lagoon all-inclusive? I was looking at a day pass at Breezes. That looks nice.

amomma23 Posted July 30, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 30, 2015 We did Blue Lagoon in November. Loved it. Food was nothing fancy but good. The beach was beautiful. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Snowrose Posted July 30, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 30, 2015 Personal opinion, Atlantis by a long shot. Love the architecture, love the dolphin swim, loved the lazy river so much we did it 5 times. Didn't do the slides. Nice beach and even has some any-age splash pads in a kind of Minoan theme. Loved the Digs, too. Only things that meant nothing to us were the food (expensive and not really special) and the casino. We had to go through the Digs faster than we would have liked because we used up every minute of being there. We'd go back in a heartbeat, though we wouldn't do the dolphin swim again. No way to out do your first dolphin swim. ;)
Charlie4 Posted July 30, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 30, 2015 If I wanted to do the Lazy river and walk around, and then eat at Atlantis, which ticket would I buy ? Could I take my own Taxi over and just buy a ticket to do those things ?
Sizzlechest Posted July 30, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 30, 2015 Are you going as part of a NCL excursion? If so, you probably won't have that much time in port to do much at Atlantis.
motleyfan Posted July 30, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted July 30, 2015 Are you going as part of a NCL excursion? If so, you probably won't have that much time in port to do much at Atlantis. Why? I've got 5 hours in port that's got to be more than enough time.
david_sobe Posted July 30, 2015 #12 Share Posted July 30, 2015 Why? I've got 5 hours in port that's got to be more than enough time. What time does Escape get to Nassau? Some ships like Sky have a full day in Nassau and time is not an issue. But some ships get to Nassau after noon and its a time crunch. Here is why. 5 hours sounds like a long time but by the time you meet your tour, take the boat over, and get the mandatory tour through the resort its 90 minutes. Then the boat that goes back leaves well over an hour before your ship leaves. Suddenly those 5 hours turn into 2  Same thing for Blue Lagoon. On Epic we got to Nassau about 1 and had 2 hours at Blue Lagoon before it was time to go back. Not complaining...... a day on a cruise or a short day at an island is still better than a day at work. But just wanted to explain why that person said what they did. When you take all that time to get to that beautiful beach...by the time you get your drink, and unpack on the beach.....no one wants to watch the clock saying 85 more minutes LOL
mjkacmom Posted July 30, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 30, 2015 I agree with the AP (although you don't have to do the tour - we ditched it, since we had been there before. It just takes a lot of time - the lazy river seems to take 45 minutes for one loop. The property is huge, and just getting from A to B takes a while. Plus, there is traffic going over the bridge on your way back. For the poster who just wants to do the lazy river, you still need to purchase the aqua adventure pass (the most expensive). Without it, you can't even look at the pools.
legion3 Posted July 30, 2015 #14 Share Posted July 30, 2015 Neither seems like the best answer.
khaide612 Posted July 30, 2015 #15 Share Posted July 30, 2015 I did Atlantis last year but we had a full day and we also did the Snuba - which was awesome. The "not-so-lazy river" is great but with a limited amount of time Atlantis is way too expensive. When we went last year it was end of May and very crowded. We took busses over - not the boat. Because we had the Snuba, we got to leave the group and just go on our own. I have read that Atlantis limits the day passes they sell directly because of hotel guests and excursions from cruises and neighboring hotels so taking a cab over to try to buy your own at a lower rate might not work out. SissasMomE Posted July 30, 2015 #16 Share Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) NCL still hasn't changed it over in "My NCL", but I think we are there all day. 8 - 5. A few of the day pass places we were looking at do not allow you in until 10:30. I think it will just be a pool / ship day for us. Snowrose Posted July 30, 2015 #18 Share Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) Not sure what's going on with someone talking about taking a boat over to Atlantis. Atlantis is a 10 minute taxi/bus ride over a bridge. Doesn't take any time at all to get there. We had the Dolphin swim package from the ship. I believe there are more versions of those packages than when we went 3 years ago. With those packages you're brought into Atlantis, walked through the mall and casino (like most casinos that's pretty much the only way in and out), shown an area near the lazy river where you can put your towel, and then you're left to your own devices. If you have the dolphin swim then you watch your own time and make sure you walk over there at the appropriate time. If you want to see the Digs, you plan your timing so you have time to walk through it. (We were a little off in our planning and should have added in another half an hour, IMO.)
