Oasis Of the Seas Windjammer Cafe

Recommended Posts

I am going to reply to your post assuming that they treat the windjammer on the oasis the same way they do the allure (hopefully someone will chime in if I am wrong)

While there is typically a wait... the one thing that I thought was great on the allure is this....

There was a short line outside the windjammer cafe ( that on average took less than ten minutes for me) once in the front of the line, instead of going directly to the buffet, a Royal staff person would actually take you to a table first ( much the way they do buffetts on land) that way you already have a table and you are not walking around with a plate full of food looking for a table. This made it so much easier.

I must also say... my group both times was a group of two, leaving more options for tables... so if you are a group of six or eight, it may take you longer to get a table... but in my opinion this system works much better than other royal ships...

There are a bunch of interactive TV's with touch screens near the elevator lobbies that will tell you how full/empty the eating venues are, just go when in the green. Very simple

Had the same experience on Allure with the lines and the escorting but for us it was a huge negative.

We were a party of 6, typically we would find a table first and then do the buffet.

On allure they insisted on escorting us to a table, so we would walk through the windjammer past several empty tables that would fit 6 to the table they wanted to seat us. More often than not we would arrive at the intended table to find it occupied and would then have to stand there and wait while our escort came up with a new plan.

By day 4 we gave up and just sat down at the first table we came to, our escort would glare at us for a moment and then go find a different group to take on a long stroll around the windjammer.

We never found the buffet to be crowded, the only issue was getting the escort to let us sit down at a table.

The thing about Oasis/Allure is....there are so many other options for dining, this was the first cruise we've ever done where we never set foot in there. It was weird.....one day we walked through just to get a look. With Park Café, the Solarium upstairs, Pizza and the other one down on Promenade, we didn't have to go to buffet. We did try the dining room one morning for breakfast and it was terrible. Very slow service and the food was cold and not good. But the Park Café and Solarium saw us constantly.

I have been on the Allure twice and Oasis once. They operate the same way. If there is a crowd, there will be a small line outside the windjammer and they will escort you to a table. In my 21 nights on Oasis class so far, I may have spent a grand total of 20 minutes waiting and that's probably an over exaggeration.

I never understand why people say these ships are crowded. I honestly think that if someone has to wait in line behind one person they will complain about the crowd. Have a positive attitude and you will see how short the wait times actually are on those ships.

On our last Allure cruise, we avoided the Windjammer almost all week except for dinner one night. As others have said, the only time you'll find it really busy is around the peak hours of breakfast and lunch. I can count on one hand how many times we've eaten dinner in the Windjammer but it was pretty empty and very enjoyable.

There are only 6000 people onboard, I'm sure it's never too crowded:D

And you are SO right about this. 6,000 people and the Windjammer on Oasis is way too small!!! They anticipated that all the other venues would keep it from being packed, but I think they were wrong. At least they do have some order to it and you have to wait in line for an available table. Still...it's overcrowded.

We are on Oasis in April and have the same goal. Not to set foot in the Winjammer!!!!!
