jocelysue Posted August 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Although we've cruised HAL a number of times ( 3*mariners) we have never needed an accessible cabin nor done a cabin crawl. DH now needs a companion wheelchair to get around so an accessible cabin might be best as he no longer can enter a bath which is one of the reasons reason we so love HAL. We also love having a sofa for many different reasons. But in looking at various pictures there doesn't seem to be a sofa in accessible cabins on HAL. We would appreciate your informing us and cluing us in. BTW we travel in an outside cabin on HAL because the bed is set up under the window and we can sit on the window sill to see the water, the sunset, the moon, etc. Otherwise we cruise in a Junior suite on Princess or on a sweet sixteen on Celebrity. Question of cost. Hal balcony simply too expensive. Thanks
510picker Posted August 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2015 We have been on seven HAL cruises, all in accessible cabins. I believe only one had a sofa and that was on the Veendam. Feel free to look through our photo gallery from our trips. http://www.pbase.com/510picker/cruise_gallery
Rare kazu Posted August 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2015 One of our roll call members had an accessible cabin on the Westerdam and she did not have a sofa. I don't think there is room when you are trying to allow for a wheelchair. The few I have seen on cabin crawls did not have them but that is not all encompassing by any means. Parker1 Posted August 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2015 We had an accessible lanai cabin on Veendam in May and had loveseat, not a full sofa. DH loved that automatic door allowed him to drive his scooter tight onto the deck.
Traveling Dot Posted August 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2015 We had an accessible cabin on the Eurodam and it did not have a sofa. It also did not have a lot of room to move around or closet space. We now get either a lanai cabin or a balcony cabin. You might look into a cabin that has a shower only instead of a tub if your husband can get into a shower. My husband uses a transport chair and we only need room to store that in the cabin. He can move around the cabin with no problem.
Rare Essiesmom Posted August 18, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2015 OV cabins on Vista and Signature do not have a sofa. However, there is a wonderful sofa in the inside K accessible cabins on Main deck only. EM
