Last month on Carnival Dream, the man next to me got his DOU card before I did. He didn't even know what it was so Kyle, a casino host, explained it to him. He said that there was a limit of 15 drinks per day. He also explained that this total also included Cheers if he had had that. I don't know if this is only on Dream or if it's a new practice for all ships, but there was definitely a limit on Dream. The Dream must have different guidelines. I was on her in February and right off the bat (first night) with a $200 buy in on the craps table I got the DOU. I've done the same thing on various other cruise and zilch. You never know what to expect in the casino, except that loud host on the PA.

If you already have CHEERS and then earn a DOU card, there is no additional benefit. Saw a guy on the Breeze last year talk the pit boss into a steak house night since he had the cheers. Like I said, you never know in the casino till you ask.
evandbob Posted December 9, 2018 #28 Share Posted December 9, 2018 (edited) Premier and Ultra casino guests will find a DOU card in their welcome package when they enter their cabin. I use mine for water and sometimes a Rockstar. The answer to the OP's 3 year old question is 15 drinks total, cheers and the casino's DOU card do not equal 30. I feel the same way! I probably only have 3 drinks a day on a cruise. Any more than that, and I may be comatose! I personally like to remember my cruises! 🤣🤣🤣 But I read reviews from people every day that DO reach that limit, and I’m just amazed that they can, and function. But everybody’s alcohol tolerance is different, and I just know how poor mine is.

At 15 drinks on your folio, you cannot be served more alcohol. DOU or Cheers it does not matter. I beg to disagree. While Cheers and DOU combine to no more than 15 alcohol drinks, any drinks purchased do not count in that total. Many people will start buying drinks when they are close to 15 because once you hit it, you can't get anything which includes soda and water. Of course everyone might experience some variations to this, but this is the way it is supposed to work. I'd also like to add, in case you are approaching the 15 drink limit, tell the bartender it's for someone else. I once had a bartender tell me he couldn't sell me one because he knew it was for me. Never had this happen before, and he was tipped throughout the cruise, he just followed rules better than anyone else did. I just went to another bar and learned a lesson for the future. MAMA "B" Posted December 10, 2018 #32 Share Posted December 10, 2018 Is there a certain amount (15) that you are limited to if purchasing all of your drinks?
Moviela Posted December 11, 2018 #33 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) A couple of reinforcements for Jim. Purchased drinks do count toward the 15 drink total except when purchasing a round for a group. In that case one is charged to cheers. Drinks purchased for yourself count toward the limit, and alcohol will be cut off after 15 total. When the 15th drink is reached you are still entitled to unlimited zero proof beverages, soda, water, milk shakes, energy drinks, ect. Not all bartenders follow all the rules of the program, for example all canned and bottled beverages are to be served open. I usually fill my fridge with soda and sparkling water from the casino bar.
