Zurich restaurants

Zeughauskeller, a restaurant in a 500-year-old armory with medieval (and modern) weapons decorating the walls. They serve typical Swiss cuisine [the menu has a whole page full of sausage options], but also a wider range (e.g. Saddle of Venison and Wiener Schnitzel), and good beer.

Will be in Zurich next week prior to our cruise. Any recommendations on a nice restaurant in the city with old world charm and very good food?

The best restaurants in Zurich are frequently Italian.

Canntinetra Antinori is one of the best. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere.

You can make reservations online for Zeughauskeller. It's pretty touristy. Read reviews for restaurants at TripAdvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g188113-Zurich.html

One night ended up at: http://www.yelp.com/biz/movie-z%C3%BCrich The menus were on big movie reels. Service was great. You need reservations most of the time. Burgers were incredible. LOTS of locals hang out here after work. There's a huge piazza in front of the restaurant with tons of tables, but beware if smoke bothers you - sit inside if it does. They have huge windows that look out on the piazza and it's a great place to relax, enjoy some casual food and people-watch.

A second positive nod out to Zeughauskeller Restaurant in Zurich. We too have eaten there and enjoyed good Schnitzel and Beer. Made reservations ahead of time as they are usually very busy. Nice atmosphere. Have recommended this place to friends who were there this Summer and enjoyed the food and ambience. Hope to go back in December post river cruise.
