How far in advance is the best price usually available for a certain date?

If I am looking at April or May, is there a particular time that the rates will be at their lowest? I'm thinking it used to be 5-6 months out.

We booked about February 2015 for April 2016. Price has fluctuated a little, and we have a small amount of obc. For the last couple months they have held steady, or climbed a bit. I'd like to see a big drop but not holding my breath.

If someone can answer this with any accuracy, have them buy you a lottery ticket also.

Prices seem to have increased this year and still ships are filling up, most say purchase as soon as you can and watch prices.

Wow, now I remember why I don't ask questions on here anymore! Thanks to those who were helpful! I'm not completely dumb. It seemed like when we have booked before, there was an optimal time before the sell date that prices dropped before they started to rise.

Ppl r rude.... IT really does depend. ES is the best option. Ive had price drops and Also Casino offers that carnival gave me. but it was within a few weeks after I booked. 6 months out prices vary little. This year it seems like they are going up instead of going down.

This far out, just book with ES and if the rate goes down, you get the difference as OBC.

Have to side with vwrestler on this. We typically book 12 months in advance with Early Saver. When we booked our (upcoming) cruise on the Conquest for May/2016, a balcony cabin was $709.00 pp. Currently, it's $769.00 pp. We're still about 8 months out, so it's hard to say which way the prices will go. Of course, some OBC, as the result of a price drop, would be nice. But I'm happy that we booked when we did. The early bird gets the worm, and he can keep it! Ugh! :D The Early Saver gets the low price. :) ;)

There were good reasons for why I gave you the info I did. When we cannot use ES this is what we do.

Please re-read the responses - there is not a single rude response here !

If someone responding there is no way to know when the lowest price will occur is classified as rude, it is simply the truth - calling it rudeness is a stretch.

Every cruise is going to be unique, every ship, every date, every destination is different from every other cruise.

I booked my 8/13/16 cruise during our spring break cruise (3/29/15-4/5/15). I booked it 14 months in advance hoping to get some OBC. Usually I book 9-12 months in advance. My upcoming cruise is the first cruise I've booked ES. So far, the price increased twice.
