Hey there - we are looking at doing the 14 night Alaska Cruise on Maasdam next year. I see that it lists Anchorage as a port of call. Am thinking that we will dock at Seward and somehow get to Anchorage - does anyone know how this works??? Do we go by bus or train and if so is it included in the cruise price? Thanks for any info. :)

Agree with Itasca---on this cruise, Anchorage means Anchorage! It's a great jump off city for all sorts of excursions.

The shuttle used to take passengers to the Egan Center, but last year they were dropping off at the Visitors' Center around the corner. It's right in an area of downtown with a lot of things to see and do.

As mentioned above, you will dock in Anchorage. We have done this cruise twice and love it! Easy free shuttle to downtown Anchorage with a lot to see there. Easy walk from either the Egan Center or the Visitors Center to the main part of downtown.

Here is a link to albums of our photos on OneDrive we took in June of 2014 on the Amsterdam. There are pictures of the dock in Anchorage.

This itinerary sails right up the Cook Inlet and docks in Anchorage. We sat in the crows nest and tried to identify the volcanoes (Augustine, Iliamna, and Spur) and had a beautiful sunset/sunrise when we did the cruise in June in its first year on the Amsterdam. It was an amazing experience that most Alaska cruisers do not get to enjoy.

As others have stated, the 14 day cruise actually ports in Anchorage itself.

We took this cruise and had a wonderful day with friends who live in Anchorage.

We took the free ship's shuttle to town and met them there.

We've done this cruise 3 times and are looking at the 4th in 2016. Really enjoyed Anchorage. We've done the train ride and it was a long day but very scenic. We've done the Portage Glacier cruise and loved it. Last time I went into town in the morning and walked all over including the farmer's market. In the afternoon we did a tour to the aviation museum. It was smaller than I expected but very well done and the people running it were so hospitable and fun to visit with. Enjoy!
