paying your onboard bill with cash

Hi we are going on the Allure next week and one of our party wants to pay their on board account with cash. There wont be much to pay as they are going to prepurchase the drinks package prior to boarding. I know you can pay your account cash but WHAT CURRENCY DO YOU NEED TO PAY IN and is there a minimum amount you need to deposit into it? Many thanks.

True, they let us put some Euros on our bill once, and the exchange rate was not very good.

US dollars on board. they will let you charge up to $250 before requiring you to come to guest services and pay it down during the cruise ( no deposit necessary but to my mind it's easier)

 

if you are paying in cash you need to close your account out the night before. lines can get very long at GS.

I typically just put down a credit card ( because its easier)

and then a few times throughout the cruise when the lines are low, I just go and pay a few hundred at a time....
