Cruise to Nowhere - Anthem

I've been looking for a sailing on Anthem out of Bayonne.

I found a 3 night CTN in March out of Port Liberty/Bayone NJ.

In June, it was announced that Customs and Immigration will no longer allow CTN's.

Anyone around here familiar with the situation, and know how RCL plans to accomplish this CTN when other links can not? Am I risking disappointment by booking this? Has the ruling changed since it was announced in June and I just hadn't heard?

I don't think it takes affect until sometime next year. Probably after this voyage

Articles I've read said effective Jan 1.

I was going to do a CTN on NCL out of NY in January, but it was canceled because of the ruling and folded into a 14 night Southern Caribbean out of NY.

NCL's last one is now in December.

I've heard it both ways, beginning of year and later in year. You never know. Good luck

Read they are making a quick stop in Halifax around 4 am for an hour.

What is the rationale behind not allowing cruises to nowhere?

Basically since the ship never leaves US authority by not touching foreign territory, the cruise and its crew are considered to be working under USA laws, and therefore appropriate work VISAs would be needed for all staff on the ship for that period of time which would be cumbersome and expensive to make happen.

that is correct .. Ships in going to stop for an hour in Halifax but guest will not get off ship. That is the only way they were able to continue cruise without cancelling it. All they need to do is stop at a port as the new law states which goes into affect Jan 1

I am currently on that cruise and that is what we have been told.

Yep, so it's going to be colder than it normally would be since we're going in that direction.

I don't think the law is new, just that they will start enforcing existing rules
