RoscoeJames Posted September 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2015 We are sailing on the Dream during Christmas and there are 5 ships in port in Rotan. We have 12 in our family and half want to do a low impact sight seeing type excursion and the other half want an active excursion like zip lining. Open to a private excursion not thru Carnival. Any suggestions? I have been there twice but rented a cabana both times but now want to do something different.
Deedeew1998 Posted September 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2015 That makes me nervous. We will be on the dream Christmas on our first cruise. That sounds like a lot of people at one time.
BenjiRodney Posted September 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2015 Carnival docks at its own port facility in Roatan, away from Royal and NCL. You will be fine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

smyliecruising Posted September 30, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2015 I am booked at Little French Key through their web site. Great reviews on Trip Advisor and I have heard so many good things about it on these boards.
ready2cruzagain Posted September 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2015 OP, there will only be a mximum of 2 ships docked at CCL's pier in Roatan. As another poster stated RCCL and NCL dock at another pier, Coxen Hole.
Rare crewsweeper Posted September 30, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2015 Wow! 5 ships! That's crazy. Coxen Hole might(?) be able to handle two smaller ships at the dock, but one or two of the RCCL/NCL ships will have to tender. Up at Mahogany Bay, The Dream and Glory will be able to dock. If the currents and wind are bad, though, theDream will most likely have a "Fun Day At Sea". No room in Coxen Hole.
#1TravelMom Posted October 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2015 Don't waste your day in Mahogany Bay. It gets crowded and very murky. The West Bay beaches are some of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. We've been on 50+ cruises and we just love the beaches here. Our kids also love South Shore Canopy Zipline and playing with the monkeys. I highly recommend Ronystours.com. We have used him many times. He is so friendly. You will have a great time with him. You can give him an idea of the things you'd like to see and customize your day as you go. Some of us get dropped at the beach while other zipline and then he just picks them up and they meet us. The zipline and beach are close to each other. Rony will make sure you have a great day!!!
OCruisers Posted October 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2015 If you don't care about snorkeling or if you've already been to Roatan many times, the beach at the secured port area of Mahogany Bay is very convenient, safe, and clean. :)
