Most Vividly Remembered Thing

I'm curious. What one thing do you remember most vividly about each Carnival ship you have sailed on? For example, it's been at least ten years since I was last on the Conquest, and there are many details I've forgotten, most perhaps. But I still remember clearly the sunflower sculpture outside the MDR. I couldn't tell you why I remember that above all else, but I do.

From the Breeze, I most remember two things, the palm tree "wallpaper" in the hallways, outside the staterooms, and that the buffet area on Lido felt more closed in than on the older ships.

Those are just a couple of examples. I'll hang up and listen. :)

There is a difference in how women and men form memories.

Most men's VIVID memories cannot be printed here.

Well, I am a man. And the memories I posted most definitely are allowed here. Besides, I did specify, rather than ask for VIVID memories in general. :D

Pride: dark decor, great Serenity area in aft of ship.

Breeze: the lanterns in the atrium...I was fascinated with them all week.

Liberty: color changing chandeliers in the atrium and promenade. Also all the wrought iron...to date I say she's the most elegant ship we have sailed on as far as decor.

Sunshine: best waterworks of all the ships...we had a blast!!

Festivale -- Bunk bed cabin and the steward made life size 'towel' people using our nighties and sunglasses, etc.

Imagination -- Just remember the pool deck on the last night and the entertainment staff basically rolled up the sidewalks at 9 pm and it was DEAD.

Breeze -- too many people and lines everywhere.

Festivale -- I remember New Year's Eve, 1987, sitting in the auditorium while the band was playing. The CD was connected to Greenwich Time in England while the New Year's countdown happened. Champagne everywhere and then everybody disappeared and went upstairs to the Lido deck for a party. My DW and I sat alone in the auditorium, waiters giving us unlimited champagne, while the big band played just for us. Magic!

Carnival Holiday - I remember the promenade deck, which was exciting and new in 1991. Crazy colors everywhere, and the walkway was on the starboard side of the ship and the bars and discos where on the port side. Very relaxing trip.

Carnival Paradise - GREAT FOOD!! and our last day at sea, traveling from Cozumel to Miami. The temperature was perfect. I'd sleep in the sun for 1/2 and hour and then take a top deck shower, then sleep again -- all day long. Won $1000 at the casino - on the quarter machines.

Carnival Liberty - New Year's Eve 2013 - Traveling with my two sons - probably our last family vacation before they go off and get jobs. Watching Miami disappear from sight as it got dark from our aft wrap balcony with a beer in hand -- More Magic.

Carnival Ecstasy - 2014 - My DW and I sitting on our extended balcony Grand Suite (upgrade fairy), drinking wine before dinner while we watched the ship dock next to us. Wow - I could cruise forever. Unfortunately, I'm hooked on big balconies now.

Next up - Carnival Conquest - our next departure from reality.

Watching women throwing up in the bathroom after a "Watermelon Eating Contest".

Wish I didn't remember this. :(

I'm sorry your most vivid cruise memory is a bad one. One would think that with over 80 cruises under your belt you could have thought of some pleasant ones to post. Just saying. :)

That BIG 2 story Frankenstein figure on the dance floor of the Miracle. :)
Yep. He does have a way of permanently lodging himself in your mind. :) We were lucky enough to sail on the Miracle at Halloween a few years ago. We took pics of each other in front of Frank.

Wow! What a nice memory. I miss the band.

Sorry, this was a question about my most vivid memory on a Carnival cruise.

Some things are so gross they are hard to forget. :o

Please understand ... this was not intended to bash Carnival which I have never done nor will ever do. :)

Here's a pic of the Sunflower Atrium on the Conquest for Towel Critter

IMG_5169_zpsxsso6mz5.jpg

One of the most vivid moments was Brett Alans doing the Welcome Aboard Show on my first Cruise.

I had never heard of cruisecritic back then and did'nt have a clue what was in store.

It was on the brand new Carnival Legend. Back when there was Midnight Buffets, Topless Decks and real Formal Nights, 12 piece orchestras, crumb scrapers, beef wellington... and tons of announcements !

8 Days of being blown away by every little thing from the Ship, the Ports and the Excursions... Not to mention the food and entertainment.

A lot has changed, but I still really enjoy my Carnival Cruises.

Thank you for the pic, Campdaan! I'll get to see it again in a few weeks. Yay!

I've enjoyed all my cruises but when it comes to memories, my first cruise definitely stands out.

We cruised the Splendor out of Long Beach for a Mexican Riviera cruise. I will never forget walking in and seeing the atrium.

I will also never forget the wonderful service we had in the dining room. The courses of food. It seems to me soup was first, then salad, then appetizer, main course, dessert. We had a two-person wait staff who constantly filled our water glasses. After each course, the waiter brushed the crumbs off the table. Changed out every piece of silverware, whether it was used or not. They talked to us and spent time with us. Never had that kind of service ever again.

I'd say that is one memory that really stands out for me.

I've only been on 2 cruises so far and they were a LONG time ago…so this is fun to think about.

Jubilee--5 day Western Carib. out of Tampa. Inside cabin. Loved everything about it. But it's weird that I can't recall really specific things.

Triumph--7 Day Eastern Carib. out of Miami. Balcony!! I was in awe at the atrium. So pretty!! Loved our Lido deck balcony…that was the BEST and has spoiled me, as I don't think I could ever cruise again without one. I remember playing some Billy Joel on the grand piano in the promenade and having a small crowd gather. I remember my young sons getting ice cream 5 or more times a day :).

With as wonderful as our first 2 cruises were, it's hard to believe that we haven't cruised since. But that is changing, as we're about 80 days away from being on the Splendor. I know so much has changed (like the ships being much bigger!) and I can't wait to be on a ship again….and booking another one!

My 1st cruise was on the Festivale, it was the late 80's, early 90's, my 3 girlfriends and I were in a small, small inside cabin. One day we were playing the "pool games" and one of them was a beer drinking contest, which one of my friends and I won. Yay! one of our other friends was the time keeper and what we didn't know at the time was the CD had told her when it was over to say that she could beat anyone 1 on 1 in a beer drinking contest. The CD said anyone?? even him and picked some big macho type. (he was the owner of some company and was there with employees) My friend said Yes, I can beat him. Well she did but only because there was a hole in the bottom of the can and she had a sip to drink. The macho guy was pissed and embarrassed. getting beat by a girl! He followed us around the rest of the cruise and challenged her for money (a lot ) to have a rematch. She wouldn't do it.

In Barbados, we won a dancing contest and won a huge bottle of rum punch. Our waiters happened to be there and smuggled the bottle back on board for us and brought it to our cabin.

And the last thing I remember, one of the few items on the room service menu was gold fish. After coming to our cabin 4-5 times our cabin steward brought us the whole box.
