Rare mitsugirly Posted October 31, 2015 Author #476 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Courtney had her cup and all was good. We headed out to the dance floor to ?dance? Right before that, Kenny & Michelle decided they didn't want to stay. So they left like party poopers. We had a lot of fun...but ?dancing? Me and my girls love to dance...whether it be "freestyle" or the line dances. We love the sailaway dancing, which we didn't have. We love the White Hot party, which is the Glow on the new ships. BUT...they did not play any of the "dance songs" that we always dance to on the other ships. No line dancing, no wobble, no electric slide, no nothing. We were so looking forward to that. It never happened. Honestly, this Glow Party was more like a RAVE party. People jumping up and down, fist pumping, it was not dancing. My how things are changing. This is one of the things I didn't like about the new ships (both the GA and BA), it's just not the same as the smaller ships. We left at 11:30pm and decided we have had enough of fist pumping jumping around type of dancing and we headed to pick up Sakari. I wasn't going to continue to pay for sitting for something that just wasn't going to happen (regular dancing) and it just wasn't what we were expecting. Darn. Rare mitsugirly Posted October 31, 2015 Author #477 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Sakari said she got to dance, so it sounded like she had a good time. We came back to the room and our towel animal for the night was a crab. Sakari did some drawing while we watched some t.v. It was a "fishy" night because she said she wanted to see more fish in the ocean snorkeling and this would give us some luck for tomorrow. "We ARE going to the beach tomorrow right mommy?" Although I don't think we'll be seeing any Orca's Sakari. The hubby decided to pay for the 48 hour internet package with Bermuda and he went out on the deck for awhile to check his emails. Now I know in the past that others said you can sometimes pick up a signal from the dockyard if you are down on deck 7. But we were on deck 12 and he was able to get a signal. Rare mitsugirly Posted October 31, 2015 Author #478 Share Posted October 31, 2015 That concludes our Day 5. I still need to get my pictures ready for Day 6...our last day in Bermuda. But I have a ton of charting to catch up on, so I'll try to work on it some tonight. I start back to school  on Monday, so I know I'm going to get busy really fast come next week and I would really like to get this review done. I'll try my best. :)
Witsend1 Posted October 31, 2015 #479 Share Posted October 31, 2015 I'm also reading 'Stacey's girl getaway' review. She was on the same cruise as you. On post 52 there's a photo of a bus stop and you and the family are stood there waiting for the bus. Couldn't believe it when I saw you all on a different review. Am really enjoying reading about you and the family. I'm from the UK and have only cruised the Mediterranean and Norweigan Fjords so love reading your reviews of new places for me. Thank you so much for your hard work.

gmazz Posted November 1, 2015 #482 Share Posted November 1, 2015 mitsugirly we were on deck 14 and were able to get the dockside wifi out on our deck. Well my girls were the ones using it in the cabin next to us. We were on the side facing the dock so that probably makes a difference. Really enjoying your review and the beach pictures. I have a few more beaches I would like to see now. I will have to try your beach touring strategy next time we go to Bermuda, hopefully in 2017. meatball_nyc Posted November 1, 2015 #483 Share Posted November 1, 2015 mitsugirly thanks for your review so far. Breakaway to Bermuda was our favorite trip/ship/beaches so far. Your photos are excellent. We board BA again tomorrow morning and wish it was back to BDA. Thanks for sharing your family's adventure with the CC community :) Happy Sailing! P.S. Sorry you had some trouble checking in at the pier in NYC. Not sure what their problem was but not the norm from our past experiences. Been sailing from the MCT since 2006 and never had a problem. Looking forward to more of your review next week when we get back home. Good to see O'Sheehan's still had Chicken Pot Pie on their menu :) Cheers! I swear I didn't put people up to promoting my review here LOL But yeah, hi, Stacey here [emoji112] we sort of "talked" on the roll call/other page, I was one of the ones encouraging you to splurge on the balcony. I had said in an earlier post that I spotted you guys at one of the beaches- think it was Tobacco- but didn't realize you guys were in the bus stop picture... Too funny! Anyway, I'm enjoying your review, have read most of your other ones, and am actually re reading your one for the Dream right now(my next cruise). It's interesting to see the age difference of your youngest daughter flipping back and forth between the two reviews! BTW good luck on your BSN program!! You'll find that you've learned most of the nursing theory already, it's just "extra" stuff like leadership, research, etc. Still, hope you guys are planning a special cruise for that one! But all the reports prior to us were saying you had to be facing the dock and on deck 7. Maybe they upgraded the signal or something. I'm not a techie, so not sure how that all works. I was just glad the hubby was able to get on from the luxury of our room instead of having to get off the ship. :D Thanks for the compliments and glad you are enjoying the review. :)

Wasn't it neat watching the Dream pull in while we were in Bermuda? I didn't realize she was going to be there the day we left. Thanks for the luck wishes. I have a feeling I'm going to need it. Been out of school for 1 1/2 years now and I'm sure my writing skills are a little rusty...well, at least my APA writing skills. I get enough writing on here to fill a novel. Rare mitsugirly Posted November 1, 2015 Author #487 Share Posted November 1, 2015 DAY 6 ALREADY!!! We were up at 8am this morning and headed to Breakfast to eat. I always make sure I get enough bacon to make my arteries harden. After all, there's no bacon police on NCL. After breakfast we headed back to the room to get ready for the day. I looked outside to determine the weather and found this... This cruise was blessed with so many rainbows. I think someone was trying to apologize for the bad weather we had on the way here. Rare mitsugirly Posted November 1, 2015 Author #488 Share Posted November 1, 2015 The hubby started off the day with his bloody mary and a little sprinkle of rainbow after breakfast. Now I've said it before and I'll say it again. These Olympus Tough cameras are awesome cameras and take great pictures. However, they ARE NOT a zoom camera. When you use the zoom on these cameras, the pictures turn out like crap and blurry and pixelated. Just plain crap. I have suggested many times to take a picture and then you can crop it in close to get that "zoom" look up close. However, I have a hard time following my own directions. It's just like going to the refrigerator to find something to eat and nothings there. You go back 1/2 hour later...it's still the same, you know it's still going to be the same, but you do it anyhow. The same with zooming. I still try it every time...and then wish that I didn't. Silly me. It looked like it was going to be a beautiful day. Woo Hoo. Rare mitsugirly Posted November 1, 2015 Author #489 Share Posted November 1, 2015 Looking down reminded me that we needed to get off the ship soon. Even though the Captain was nice enough to extend our stay, I still wanted to make the most of the day. We grabbed our beach bags and headed down and dinged ourselves out. Of course we had to stop and take our picture with the various props.

Rare mitsugirly Posted November 1, 2015 Author #491 Share Posted November 1, 2015 Our choice for this day might not interest a lot of you. We decided to stay close to the pier and head to Snorkel Park. I know there's a lot of people on here that always try to steer clear of this place. After all, it's a man made beach, not the nicest sand, not a big beach, they charge you $5 to get in (where the other beaches are free) and I have even read reports awhile back about broken glass and getting cut up. So while this might not be our first choice of places to go, it was the best choice for what was supposed to be a short day. After the Captain changed the time to leave, well we had already planned to go here and I had made enough rearranging of plans to last me the entire cruise. Today we were just sticking to the original plan and that's all there was too it. It would just last a little longer. Now I will say that since we went to Snorkel Park last time we were here, I did know what it was like on the other side of the walls. We only went during the evening and not for swimming. But, we did enjoy ourself and I figured it would just be an extension to the last time except we would get to swim this time. We met the kids outside the gate and we all headed toward the park. We followed the footprints all the way to the park. Looking up at the entrance to the park, I believe they have baby stalactites growing.
Rare mitsugirly Posted November 1, 2015 Author #492 Share Posted November 1, 2015 Once we paid our $5 entrance fee (for adults, kids are free under 12 I believe is the age) we headed to the beach to find our spot for the day. This would be the first time that the munchkins got to come here since we sent them to the kids club for our nightly outing last time. So they loved the big chair that us girls took pictures in last time.
Rare mitsugirly Posted November 1, 2015 Author #493 Share Posted November 1, 2015 When you pay your admittance fee to get in, they give you these hard plastic toy like "coupons" for $1 off a coconut drink. Hey if you don't use them, they made good souvenirs or play money for the kids. I will use mine in my scrapbook. These would be the coconuts you could get with the coupon and they fill it with your favorite drink. I believe that Michelle was the only one that ended up getting one of the coconut drinks. She only wanted it to take home as a souvenir. I think she said it was some outrageous price like $14 for the drink. Yikes! Yep, everything still looks the same as last time. Although there were already a lot of people here, there was still plenty of room for us to pick a location. Once again, we decided not to get any lounge chairs or umbrella and just rough it on the sand with our towels and blankets. Kendra would later decide she wanted a chair. It automatically came with an umbrella and we would laugh at her laying on the chair like she was sunning and had her towel wrapped around her head with just her lips sticking out...and she was in the shade...no sun. It was pretty hilarious to watch. Uh, well maybe you had to be there. But we thought it was funny.

Rare perfect match Posted November 1, 2015 #495 Share Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) Beautiful sunset, Kim! Thanks for sharing it with us. I feel for Courtney with her ID being questioned like it was. That happened to me all the time when I was younger, although I don't think anyone was ever as rude to me about it as that waiter was to her. Besides, isn't all of her information coded into her room key? I used to get really upset at being questioned about my age when I was younger. Now, many years later I am thrilled when someone sincerely thinks I am younger than I actually am. :p Sakari's fish drawings are excellent. Hope they brought lots of fish for you to see in the Snorkel Park. Actually, I can't wait to see how the snorkeling really is there. I am quite sure you will have pictures! jenseib Posted November 1, 2015 #496 Share Posted November 1, 2015 Finally getting caught back up here. I just don't have the time to read daily like I would like to. Your trip looks fabulous. The Beach pictures are amazing. I watched your waves video and I didn't think it looked that rough either, but of course if I had been on the ship I might have disagreed and been sick. LOL. That emergency evac was really something. I would be freaking if I had to be lifted in a basket. If you ever do decide to go to Alaska I am working on my trip report still about our Aug. trip. I am only about half way through as of yet as I just don't have the time to post daily. I do have a lot of details and I know you like visuals and I have a TON of pictures. I hope to keep caught up here now a bit better....but you know how life is...it gets in the way.

Rare mitsugirly Posted November 1, 2015 Author #499 Share Posted November 1, 2015 Ok, on to our day. After laying our things out at our new beach front property, which happen to be located in about the second row behind a line of chairs, the BOYS actually said "Let's go snorkeling mom!" I was a little shocked since it's usually Kendra that wants to go. But we didn't even have time to sit down before they were ready to go. As always, I was game. The one thing about the water this time in Bermuda was it was cold(er) than last time. It did take some getting use to, but once you were in it for a little bit, you got use to it and didn't notice the cold anymore. At this point, Kenny is splashing Kolin and making a game out of it. I bet in my mind that Kenny would be the first to dive into the water and get it over with, and yes...I know my boys well. Kenny dove in. We started along the wall snorkeling. This little guy decided he would follow us...and he actually followed us the entire time no matter where we went. It was funny how he would go in between Kolins legs whenever he would stand up. Awww, Kolin has a new friend. One thing I noticed is that there are a lot of anemones here. There was a lot of yellow sea sponges as well. They were everywhere. I always wonder if these are the same type of sponge they use when you purchase them in the stores to wash with. Anyone know?
Rare mitsugirly Posted November 1, 2015 Author #500 Share Posted November 1, 2015 I spotted a parrotfish. Of course it wasn't the huge magnificent green ones, but at least another parrotfish. I really had hoped that Kenny & Kolin could see the size of these things. It just wasn't going to happen this cruise. This was a small one and it would be the only one we seen that day. Once again, zoom is never a good idea. Plenty of surgeon fish in the area: I was so glad that the water was clear and the sun was out. It made for a good experience. Lots of coral in the area of various types
