Leaving on Splendor Friday...Any Questions?

Hello Cruise Critic family!

I will be sailing on the Splendor this coming Friday on her Bermuda sailing. I do plan to put together a review when we return, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific questions about the Splendor that I may be able to find out answers to for them. I have learned so much on this site and I would like to give back to the community if I can. :) We will be eating in the Steakhouse the first night, and my group has signed up for YTD for the remainder of the cruise. We won't be doing any ship excursions, so I won't be able to answer any questions about those. Anything else, post away and I will do my best to find out answers for you!

Are we there yet? :p

I'll be doing a review, too. Also going to the steakhouse the first night and have YTD (of which I'm not a fan). And not doing any ship excursions.

I expect to spend quite a bit of time in the spa, so I hope to provide lots of details on the Cloud 9 Spa experience. That's my plan, at least! ;)

Silly question...but I want to know if magnets will work on the cabin walls and doors... I keep getting conflicting answers. Thanks!

I have the same question as well about the magnets.... Although someone already confirmed they do not work on the cabin doors.

I don't typically decorate my door. Haven't for 3 years now, I think. So, although I've already been on Splendor, I don't know about magnets. I always just used window cling types of things or pasted stuff on paper and taped it on. I think tape is frowned upon, though.

Actually, we had a door decorating contest on the Splendor repo I did and my cruise buddy and I went in search of the winners. But, honestly, I don't recall seeing any with magnets. Some were really elaborate (and hadn't been vandalized after 8 days).

So, I'm not very useful! I know people are going to decorate their doors so if I think of it, I'll look to see if anyone used magnets. OP will do a much better job of remembering these things, though, since she did ask, after all! ;)

Someone gave a tip to bring magnet hooks for the inside cabin wall/s. They said it's great to hand your hats and such from to keep organized. I think it's a great idea!

Do keep us posted (maybe some pics) on the door decorating! Fun stuff!

You might want to ask someone on the same itinerary. Ours is the 1-time, 7 nights to Bermuda, so it may not be in the same order. We have 2 sea days going, three days in Bermuda, and 1 sea day returning.

I've been mostly on 8-night sailings lately and other than the first couple of nights, it seems that they have been sort of shuffled. But I don't really remember. I've had these same menus so many times now that I just don't pay that much attention to what is offered when.

Gee, I'm just not very helpful, am I? :p

I do know that the first night is always the tilapia and creme brulee for dessert, which is one of the few desserts I ever eat, so I miss it when I go to the steakhouse the first night.

Enjoy the Steakhouse. They do a nice presentation and it is well worth it.

Also have a good time with "Music Boardwalk". They are the band that plays by the casino. Happy cruising.

Have fun!!!

Would love to see pictures of the MDR menus.

What kind of cabin are you in and what deck? I'd be curious to know what your room temperature is like.

Also - and someone may be able to answer this already - what bars are on Lido deck? And what are their drink menus? I usually hit Red Frog Rum Bar or Alchemy Bar; I know there is no Alchemy Bar, but I don't think they have the Rum Bar either on Splendor. Want to start planning my drink options (I don't like wine or beer, so cocktails all the way!!) :p

Thanks!!

Leelo - have you looked at the deck plans? Same drink menus as on every other ship.

No Alchemy Bar. Wine bar instead back there. No other "speciality" bars, really. There's a bar up on Serenity Deck, starboard. Bars in the main pool area and the Liner Bar, aft. All the usual venues on Atlantic and Promenade decks, plus the Lobby bar.

Again, although I've been on the ship already, I'm not very helpful. I'm a beer/wine drinker. On the rare occasions I want something else, I've always been able to get it at any of the bars.

I will try and remember to take my camera to the MDR and take pics of the menus. I do not usually do food porn pics, but maybe I will this time. I will not be going the first night, but every night after we will.

We have an aft cabin on deck 7, cabin 7442.

I am a cocktail drinker as well, although I will have 3 bottles of wine this time so I may not drink too much from the bars this time. I will try and take note of what they have though!

We were on the 9/6 sailing on the Splendor and we were also wondering what day to schedule our steakhouse dinner. So we went to the guest relations desk when we embarked and asked them to print out and give us a copy of each days MDR dinner menu for the week. They did that right away and it made it very easy for us to decide which day to skip the main dining room and eat at the steakhouse which, by the way, was delicious and well worth the money. Enjoy your cruise!

I didn't realize you were so close. We are in 7438.

Y'all have a great cruise tomorrow!!

Yes, I want to read every snippet of information you post when you return - all reviews, menus, shows, spa. The mud treatment room - is it included in your spa balcony or spa pass...etc.

Hope you enjoy every moment!

Thanks! Yes, I did look at deck plans - I just thought I had seen conflicting info at one point about the rum bar. Wishful thinking, maybe?? Also - I wasn't sure if the pool bar had different items than, say, the liner bar. Thanks!!

Don't go to any trouble on my account!! If you happen to get the info for other reasons or for a review, that's fantastic - but if it's not your normal MO to take pics, I have lots of other references. I guess I just always seem to think there will be a few changes here and there - but I will just be pleasantly surprised in January :)
