Princess Cruise Line is Fantastic!

We left Vancouver, BC on the Star Princess on October 14 bound for a R/T voyage to Hawaii. It was a trip we (my mom, sister and I) had booked and looked forward to for a year. We took it to celebrate my mom's 90th birthday. After cruising for 6 days, we arrived in Honolulu and were looking forward to our excursion to the missionary house museum, Iolani Palace and a few other places. While at the missionary house museum, tho, my mother lost her balance and tumbled down a staircase (made of cement) to a basement storage area....It is an absolute miracle that she survived the fall and a total miracle that, while she received a huge gash on the top of her head and broke 2 small bones in her back, it wasn't anything worse. After a night in The Queen's Medical Center she was released and we flew home the next day. This brings me to why I'm posting this long message: Princess Cruise Line was absolutely wonderful to us! Before we could get back to the ship, they were notified of the accident and that we'd be leaving. They sent up 2 ladies to help us pack and then we were escorted to the medical center onboard where the captain greeted us and expressed his concern. He also called the hospital to check on mother's condition. After that, the passenger care team took over from Santa Clarita, CA. We got a call from Don there every single day. He arranged for us to contact a representative in Honolulu who arranged our travel home and was available for any other concerns and questions we had. It was absolutely tremendous! While I don't think we will be cruising again any time soon-- if we do, it will be on Princess! They really do care about their passengers. My mom is, of course, very stiff and sore and bruised almost beyond belief but she is resting comfortably at home. While it was a pretty terrifying event for my sister and I, we didn't feel all alone-- we had people we could call for help. I can't properly express our thanks and appreciation!

So sorry to hear of your Mom's fall but glad she is on the rpad to recovery.

It is nice to see these types of posts on CC when the cruise lines provides such excellent service and sincerely cares about their passenger's well being.

Princess does have great service and that is one of the reasons we sail exclusively with them.

Keep well.

Sorry to hear about your mother's accident and your cruise to Hawaii being cut short, but glad to hear she's recovering. Thanks for letting us know that Princess stepped up big time to help you out. It's nice to know that Princess is concerned and cares about it's passengers, that's why I keep cruising with Princess.

I am very happy to hear the your mother is doing well and Princess looked after her so well.

On the other end of the spectrum my 78 year old neighbour who left the Star in Vancouver several weeks ago after the much heralded Code Red cruise; she after a bout of Noro and with double pneumonia was not even offered wheelchair disembarkation. I was speaking with her husband about an hour ago, she had just been for more X-rays today and has not heard a word from Princess.

Best wishes for your mom's recovery!! Glad you had such a comforting experience with her injury.

I tore my ACL while hiking on the big island in Hawaii on a Princess cruise and had much the same type of care. While I did not have to disembark or return home after my first day on the islands, my injury was taken seriously. I was immediately brought a wheelchair and given a brace down at the doctor's office. Although I was misdiagnosed (really needed an MRI so no blame there), the medical and tour desk teams were so kind took care of the costs of all the other excursions I had booked. (I had 3rd party insurance)

My room steward made sure I had ice and a bag for my knee available at all times in the room. By the next day, it was almost the size of a basketball. Whenever I saw one of the members of the medical team, they asked how I was feeling.
