baytraller Posted October 31, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2015 We are trying to determine how bad the noise level is from vents above several sections of Aqua balconies on S-Class ships Recently we were on board the Constellation when in Kusadasi the Equinox was docked opposite As we have booked Aqua stateroom 1636 on the Equinox next year We took a deck plan to the top deck of the Constellation to view the Equinox staterooms There are three section of Aqua stateroom that have a second lower ceiling above the balconies The stateroom numbers we calculated were (1556 to 1568) - (1600 to 1610) and (1626 to 1642) As we were about the same height as the Aqua stateroom we could see between the two ceilings There were large vents all along the side of the ship We have found several reviews in the S-Class Cabin Information Compilation about these vents They seem to be Air Intake Vents - Some guest have found the noise to be extremely loud It is possible that most guests are unaware of these vents - you would have to stand at the rail and look up/back We were unable to see the port side of the Equinox so are not sure if these vents are on both sides of the S-Class ships
Rare keesar Posted October 31, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2015 The noise that I found most annoying has been a constant rattle from the fan in the bathroom in rooms in those locations. I was able to take care of that. I did not notice any other sounds. We had no problems sleeping.

Islander500 Posted October 31, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2015 I noticed it on our most recent cruise because I read about it here on these boards. The ceiling of the balcony seemed lower, and we could hear the noise from the vent. I noticed it when I first entered the stateroom and stood on the balcony and thought I would not book these cabins again. Honestly, once we were at sea, I did not notice the noise from the vent at all. Maybe I was too happy to be sailing and relaxing on my balcony with a glass of wine that the slight noise from the vents just did not rise to any level of importance. ;)
Lsimon Posted October 31, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) We were in one of those cabins once - 1601 in Equinox. Noise was noticeable but not much worse than that. I'd rather it was not there but would still consider the cabin due to the great location. Edited October 31, 2015 by Lsimon
