Has anyone had the Grand Marnier Chocolate Volcano cake recently?

 

Did have actual cake ?

 

What we were served had no resemblance to any Volcano cake we have had other places

I just had it on the Eurodam.

It is different than Carnival's molten cake.

It is a warm pudding surrounded by warm cake. There is Grand Marnier whipped cream that you can put on it.

Only once in all the years that I have it had has been overcooked.

KK has it well described. However, we find that difference ships make it slightly differently.

 

If cooked right, not dried out, it is sensational. We order it with either double whipped cream or with ice cream, too.

If you have had flourless chocolate cake, you're in the ballpark.

OK then I think they missed something with ours

There was not cake of any description it was just a rich chocolate pudding thing

I thought maybe the cake was under the sauce but no just the chocolate pudding stuff

Had it in early Dec last year and sorry to say, my volcano was extinct, no chocolate lava and thus dry. Major disappointment,,,,

it was just a bowl of chocolate goop & very rich ...we could not eat it

Looks like it wasn't baked at all. :)

 

We've stopped ordering it as it seemed to be always under baked for us. I don't think that the serving dish helps much either.

 

We've had good luck with the Pinnacle Souffle. We had strawberry sorbet once that was simply delicious.

 

The raspberry cheesecake was a major disappointment. The texture did not resemble a traditional cheesecake and it was overly sweet.

It is gooey, sweet and rich. It's a dessert after all :D;). I've never thought of it as being like pudding because I'm not a pudding fan. I think poa's description was good describing it like a flourless cake. Another way I would describe it would be like an undercooked brownie. A fudgy one not like the gelatinous ones like they have in the pinnacle.

this was a bowl of warm chocolate pudding type texture

in any case I am glad to read others had some cake in theirs ;)

 

we were full so we did not really need dessert anyway :D
