Shana51 Posted November 22, 2015 #101 Share Posted November 22, 2015 I have been enjoying your informative review very much. Thank you for spending the time. We will be doing multiple b2bs also on Allure. What was the actual immigration process in the terminal today for you? Was it just the b2b people in line at that time? How long did you need to stand in line? Enjoy your second week!....and again thanks!
WillandStacey Posted November 22, 2015 Author #102 Share Posted November 22, 2015 It was pretty quick we hit guest services to settle up our bill in a line just for returning cruisers at 930 then were told to meet at schooner bar by 10, we had some stragglers didn't get everyone gathered till about 1030, so we sat at schooner a bit they got us off the ship and we sat in a separate area about 15 mins we didn't even stand a customs agent went thru checked each I'd and passport then back on board and were directed to Giovanni's for a free lunch at 1130 overall very easy and smooth even with my mom in her scooter chair. I think being back in port with att cellular helped too many checked emails Google Facebook etc but it went really well, maybe 2 hours total, you didn't have to go to Giovanni's but it was good and free so we did ;)

MaggieMay1931 Posted November 24, 2015 #113 Share Posted November 24, 2015 My husband & I will be on Allure Eastern cruise Jan 3. I've been soaking up your posts since we've never been on the Allure. He has a bad hip & walks at his own pace, but we want to try to see as much as we can on & off the ship. We'll be on deck 7 ocean view balcony, (our first cruise we had a JS) I'm totally confused about which eateries are included in our package...:( We have a free dinner for 2 in our package, so which would you recommend? When should we book our shows? I also want to take an excursion in St. Maarten just to watch the planes fly over the beach, has anyone taken that, if so how was your experience? Any info would be appreciated.

WillandStacey Posted November 24, 2015 Author #118 Share Posted November 24, 2015 What is a periscope? I mean, I know what one is, but what is it in the context of this conversation?[/quoteWe have been using periscope around the ship a bit this week willandstacey is our user name on Twitter and Periscope so when a broadcast airs it zaps a message to Twitter I hadn't posted the airings here because the way periscope works the videos disappear within 24 hours I could be wrong on that maybe 48 hours later but replays only last for a day or two then periscope removes them. I am just a tech geek so I dig periscope to follow friends musicians celebrities etc. Bill
WillandStacey Posted November 24, 2015 Author #119 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Do you see the 1000 kids? What is that like? The girl at adventure ocean said they are at 1400+ this week it's been very busy signing our daughter in and out usually a 15-20 min wait in line either way, the room is packed I mean packed it's loud and the kids love it lol. All I can say is those kids group leaders work hard and we will be tipping a few of them for sure as they have gone out of their way more than once to make sure Julia has the best cruise ever. Funny story on deck just walking around adventure ocean was closed for two hours one of the helper girls saw Julia and she took her on a mini tour of the aria stage and whatnot and sat with her for the sail away rode the carosel with her just hung out for about an hour with Julia she loves this ship it's going to be very sad when we get off ;(
WillandStacey Posted November 24, 2015 Author #120 Share Posted November 24, 2015 I am not much of a gambler but my mom enjoys it she has spent 110$ out of pocket and right now she's up at 1100 so she's done well, she plays 1 and 2 cent cleopatra and 100 wolves?! My wife sat down at wild cherries slot put $10 into a slot machine and after about 7-8 pulls cashed out at $220 she's using that for a zip line excursion ;) she's a smart gambler I guess ;) I put $20 into a cleopatra game to sit by my mom a bit and so far my ticket after two hours is $73 so I may still go play some more till I get lucky or end up with my starting $20 again. But the casino has been pretty good to us all so far ;) My only gripe is the smoking in there, even though we play on the non smoking side you still smell it and stink when you have played in there for more than 30 mins ;(. I went to the bar to get my mom a glass of ice water and had to wait a few mins (busy) by the time I left I was gagging and where we sit in non smoking is 5 feet from a chair area where everyone smokes but that's where my moms favorite games are at ;(
WillandStacey Posted November 24, 2015 Author #121 Share Posted November 24, 2015 2nd week of crushing on allure one thing I used to love to get was honey stung chicken, so far of our 9 nights we have called for room service 5x tipping very well btw only once was the food edible! I called the guest services and talked to room service as well they were apologetic and offered to remake the chicken but we declined. I realize this is a big ship and experiences vary but only one of our 5 times ordering did we get edible food, you couldn't even cut much less chew the chicken, the kids got cookies and milk which were ok but somewhat stale they seemed to eat them fine though lol the one I tried I put right back down hard brittle not worth the calories I figured lol. WillandStacey Posted November 24, 2015 Author #122 Share Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) Thank you so much for the updates. We will be on Allure over Christmas for an Eastern cruise. Would you be able to post the Teen activity info for your second week? We have two 16 year olds who are very excited for the teen club. Can't wait to hear about the rest of your cruise! I have a 15 year old daughter and I think a page back or two I posted the teen info sheet basically they get one sheet at the start of cruise it just gives hang out spots for them no special daily activities sheets beyond that one I posted they get day one. But she went up there a few times and said it was pretty lame just really obnoxious kids running around screaming not her scene. I did notice tho in the compass there are things that involve certain ages like flow rider teens or volleyball teens but the teens that I see just sort of hang out by the pool or sorentos and whatnot with no real "activities" My daughter brought her flute so she's sat in Central Park practicing here and there that's more her speed she's met some great kids and adults who stopped by to listen and has hung out with the orchestra people on the ship this week more so than the other kids she's just more into her music stuff. We spend a lot of time in Central Park or jazz on 4 and dazzles one night they do Broadway stuff with mamma Mia cast and that was the highlight of her cruise last week ;) Edited November 24, 2015 by WillandStacey
WillandStacey Posted November 24, 2015 Author #123 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Do you see the 1000 kids? What is that like? How do I say this nicely, I have two girls on this cruise 7 and 15, this cruis has an awful lot of kids as you know we were onboard last week and this week they are two TOTALLY different cruises! This morning I woke early to go grab coffee take meds at the cafe on deck 5 as I do most mornings and even at 8am kids racing screaming running it's just a different atmosphere even in elevators night one I was getting my 7 yr old from adventure ocean to go get pizza on deck 5 and these two boys were chasing these teen girls running slipping laughing out of control spilling drinks it was insane! Many wet floors drinks spilled in elevators (twice I've told staff due to unsafe wet floors never once did that happen last week). I saw easily a pair of 15/16 yr old max age drinking a beer at boleros told the bartender who got on the phone I sat by Starbucks and a good 10 mins passed nobody did a thing figured it wasn't my place really I had just had a run in with kids in the elevator earlier on day one. The one boy stood holding the elevator hostage trying to get a girls room number until I said in or out and he came in with a few curse words and a nasty look at me I wasn't amused I had a 7 yr old with me. I mentioned it at guest services as well, it sure doesn't change our enjoyment but it's a different vibe with all these unsupervised kids gosh I sound old but as a parent I've seen way too many kids getting away with a lot of bs. WillandStacey Posted November 24, 2015 Author #124 Share Posted November 24, 2015 It's been two years since I was on Allure and then the Internet was slow and spotty so much so we even got a small credit, but wow have times changed! Each week we run 2 devices for $134 total both can stream movies, FaceTime, periscope never an issue I've run speedtest a few times and I'm averaging 9-17 Mb downloads and solid 10-12Mb uploads that's actually fantastic to me vs just 2 years ago. Geeks like me are very happy, this week we have so many more kids with phones so I'm sure they are in full stress mode and yet things still seem strong so that's a plus too! This will make me never want to cruise again. And I fear this is the direction that cruise operators are heading in. The ship being built now has a water slide/park and some glass globe you get into that flings you 300 feet over the ocean while it is attached to a mechanical arm. This is absolutely geared for families with teens. While your teens may be well behaved (around you), but many of the unleashed ones that run amok are going to cause havoc. I would have at their age (and did!). Obviously, they are going where the money is though. Money talks.
