sailing Pride on Dec13, Cell phones?

question on cell phones..we will be on the Bahama 7 day cruise,Cape Canaveral,Nassau,Freeport. I get we may not be able to call at times? but what about texting others on the ship?. Lord knows I dont want any extra international charges..but also is there even service to text cruise buddies?

Texting will still use WiFi minutes . Unless you have an international roaming package on your phone . Data and voice are very pricey. WiFi isn't free on the ship.

You'll find walkie-talkie won't work well because of the steel used in the construction. My people find walkie-talkies being a distraction .

No, it doesn't. Texting uses the ship's cellular network. Texting costs are dependent on you carrier and plan, but typically receiving is whatever your plan normally charges (if your plan has unlimited texting, receiving will be free) and sending costs around 50 cents.

 

If you have an iPhone, iMessages will use WiFi but only if youre connected and logged onto the WiFi.

Make plans...tell each other. what you're doing, and listen to their plans...it's called "talking to a real person"!!! Really...it works!

Ships aren't that big that you're going to lose your friends. Make plans for each day for what activities you're going to do and use things like post it notes or you can leave messages for them on their cabin phones.

 

BTW, walkie talkies are illegal to use off the ship in many ports. They use the same frequencies that the locals use for police/fire/military.

The room phones have voicemail. Free.

 

Post-its are another good idea.

Best bet is to make plans to meet and makes use of the room phones to leave messages.
