The cruise line will offer a series of 11 Western Europe and three Norwegian Fjords sailings between May 12 and June 20 and August 7 and October 16, 2017. Also available will be two shorter taster cruises.

Norwegian Jade (pictured) will arrive in Europe after a two-and-a-half-week dry-dock. Ports of call featured on its itineraries include Hamburg, Amsterdam, Zeebrugge, Le Havre, Alesund, Geiranger, and Bergen.

The line’s 2017 programme includes a total of five ships sailing in Europe, the line’s biggest ever European deployment.

Norwegian Getaway, which launched in 2014, will return to Europe to sail on eight or nine-night Baltic Capitals cruises to and from Copenhagen.

Norwegian Epic will sail in the Western Mediterranean; Norwegian Spirit will offer 10 and 11-night voyages between Barcelona and Venice and Norwegian Star will sail between Venice and the Greek Isles.

Norwegian’s managing director for EMEA, Christian Boell, said: “We’re clearly demonstrating our commitment to our European customers, especially cruisers in the UK, with these exciting summer itineraries.

“Not only are we offering the possibility to embark in Southampton but we are also bringing one of our newest and most innovative ships back to Europe.

“We’re convinced that this will encourage continued growth in the UK market, where we have just seen record breaking guest numbers in 2015.”

Northern Europe general manager, Nick Wilkinson, added: “I’m sure these exciting Southampton sailings will be music to our travel partners’ ears.”

New ship Norwegian Escape, which launched in October 2015, will spend summer 2017 sailing alternating seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami on May 6.

http://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/13772-norwegian-building-up-europe-in-2017-getaway-to-warnemunde.html says;

"The Norwegian Jade will sail summer 2017 from Hamburg, as well as Amsterdam and Southampton, on a varied program to Western Europe, Norway, Iceland and Scotland."

That's the first time I saw something about Iceland on the 2017 Jade news!

As I said on another thread, it's notable that the 2017 itineraries posted there include Zusadasi and Alanya.

It will be interesting to see how that goes. They have just removed Alanya from our Easter 2017 cruise.

Interesting conflict indeed, FDR said "We're hopeful by 2017 we will once again have the confidence to return to Turkey." so I guess spring/summer 2017 is the tentative turning point..

For now that might be easier to handle than any given week somewhere mid anything (in terms of PCC/agents/etc)?

This is not available in the US, apparently. Does anyone know when we can book from there for Europe 2017??

Thanks!

I will be in Europe in June 2017, and I am looking for an NCL cruise. Does anyone know when they will be published? For now, all I see is Hawaii and Alaska, and a few others.

Thank you

Looks like they will be out soon. NCL will have 5 ships in Europe in 2017

Where did you find the above quote? I can't find it on the NCL site, and want to verify the sail date for the 14-day cruise.

Many thanks!:)

Here is a site which has this exact post:

http://www.chaniapost.eu/2016/01/27/greek-islands-in-norwegian-cruise-lines-new-summer-2017-itineraries/

There are other news sites which also have it posted and I believe they are mostly European websites.

Thank you! I did access NCL's German site, found their press release, and had Google translate it! It confirmed the 14-night cruise to Norway, Scotland & Iceland has been moved from September to July, leaving from Hamburg on the Jade. Also found on another CC post, dated 2 days ago, that passengers in Europe are getting emails from NCL to pre-register for the European 2017 cruises. Makes sense that NCL is reaching out to Europeans first, to build up that market.

Found some conflicting info on a shorter 2017 cruise;

Text says "Norwegian Getaway Mini Cruise from/to Southampton"

Lower left route says:

"NORWEGIAN JADE

4-night Mini Cruise"

4-nights-Mini-Cruise_EN.jpg

I assume it's a typo and Getaway will make her way right from to Copenhagen?

  • 2 weeks later...

Not sure about Hamburg/Warnemunde (since they seem to use both on different cruises so probably not as Keith said), but so that some of our cousins from across the pond can get an idea about the width of the NCL definition of "Capitals of Europe", the following is a list of shortest distances from the ports:

Germany - Berlin 180 Miles from Hamburg, 150 miles from Warnemunde

UK - London 80 miles from Southampton

France - Paris 122 miles from Rouen(Le Harve)

Belgium - Brussels 70 miles from Zeebrugge

Netherlands (Holland) Amsterdam 30 miles from Ijmuiden (most likely port for Amsterdam)

If you have a look at the excursions on the .uk site, most are in the 10-14 hours bracket because of the distances traveled. Mind you that is nothing to the distances you would end up travelling if you wanted to book one of the NCL excursions from Portland(UK) because they all involve travelling a day and 2 hrs by air at least to get to Hawaii - I think they have got some of the geography wrong with that list of tours!;)

Bearing in mind traffic considerations that make European distances seem around 2 or 3 times longer than in the US, those road distances give you a good idea of why I can't see the logic of having the 8 "Capitals of Europe" cruises, but who knows, maybe NCL have a really cunning plan in mind.

One other thing while I am here, I had an email from NCL yesterday telling me about the wonderful cruises they are now taking bookings "from Southampton to the beautiful Norwegian Fjords" and then showing everything else but that option futher down the email. Not only that, there is still no such cruise on the .uk web site. I know we are now used to the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, but I would like to think that the right fingers would know what the other right fingers know. Maybe that is just a step to far these days.
