cabins near elevators

Recommended Posts

I like the ease of cabins near elevators, down three or four, but on the Legend we can get deck 8. There are a couple cabins almost even with the elevator area. Thoughts on these. We have never had any problem with noise on the others. There are cabins down a little also.

Don't know if it makes any difference these are at the center elevators not forward or aft.

I would avoid. It's not the elevator noise, it's the people talking while waiting for elevators and parents shouting at kids to wait for them, that's the problem. Since the elevators are by the stairs, the kids run screaming up and down the stairs at all hours and parents yelling at them to wait.

The cabins near the elevators, esp. the center ones, are great. Good location and very convenient. However, I would be wary of deck 8. You would be directly below the Lido deck, and there would be increased noise from walkers, runners, dragging of chairs, etc. Having cabins above and below are much quieter locations.

We always get a cabin near the elevators near the doorways by the Atrium elevators and have never had a problem. We love having a cabin in this area, easy to find and not much walking down hallways. :)

Agree with this post. We like to be near the fwd elevators. Never had much noise.

Being by the elevators doesn't bother us, we don't hear any noise. We've had several cabins by the elevator in past cruises. We like being close to the stairs and never take the elevator.

We had a cabin near the midship elevators on our Valor cruise. We heard the "dinging" of the elevator day and night in our cabin, but it wasn't enough to wake us up or bother us. We never heard any people talking or anything like that. I would definitely choose a cabin in the same location again.

When my cabin was outside the front elevators on another cruise ship.... there was noticeable noise, but everything got quiet around 11pm. Great for us night owls.

I did feel somewhat unsecure when we were asked to put out our luggage the night before for debarkation. Being line of sight for the world to see while waiting for the elevators.

I was going to chime in with exactly this. Midship deck 7 on Valor & the same constant "ding". It was a little annoying at first, but overall we got used to it & weren't too bothered. However, i tend to book guarantee & will basically live with wherever i end up. If you're more picky & think the "dinging" may bother you, i would suggest moving just a slight ways down the hall.

You never know what you'll get. I have been near the elevators a few times. Once, I could hear the dinging of the elevators every time. It wouldn't wake me up, but it catches my attention as I'm about to fall asleep. But, there was no noise from people. Another time, there were some very rude people that would always get off the elevator talking (shouting) every single night. They would wake me up. Another time, there was no problem at all. So it all depends on your fellow guests.

On the other hand, you could be far away from elevators, but your next door neighbor likes to slam their doors as they go in and out several times throughout the overnight. Although, that is probably less likely than the elevator shouters.

We always try to be near the mid-ship elevators for easy access around the ship. We've had rooms right next to them and never had an issue. We noticed a bit more noise near the atrium elevators, but it was never people's voices, it seemed the only noise that traveled was the music up from the lobby, which was a-okay! The way the elevators are laid out, you won't often find people congregating near where the cabins are.

Our cabin on the Pride backed up to an elevator, though our cabin door was around a corner. We heard no noise from the elevators and no issues from people in the hall either. Very convenient as we went out our door, up a few floors and were at the entrance to the buffet!

  • 4 months later...

I am booking an elevator on the Pride as well, may I ask what cabin you had?

There is a sideways one, I was curious about.

The only cabins that truly "wrap" an elevator on the Pride are the 9A/9B cabins. The sideways cabins are near, but not adjacent to, the elevators.

I've been in 7299 and 8237. No elevator noise and only minimal traffic noise being at the beginning/end of a hallway to the central elevator area.

I think they add extra noise protection or something to the cabins right by the elevators because ours are always quiet. I look booking right by them because they are easy for everyone to find the room.

The only time we ever had trouble with noise was one night when we had a group of teens partying in the hall. Asked them to leave politely twice as did at least one other room and they wouldn't so we called security around 2am and they ran them off, that lasted about 15 minutes. One more call to security and we peeked the door open when we heard some really deep voices saying to come with me (yep I'm nosey). Well security came full force that time and a whole bunch of them escorted them all to who knows where instead of just sending them off on the their own. I assume they tracked their parents down that time. Never saw or heard from them again for the rest of the cruise.

Bravo !

We were right at the atrium elevators on the Dream in January and loved the location. We found it very convenient to everything and now when looking at cruises I look at that area again to be at the elevators.
