Wondering what you did in the ports. Martinique and Dominica are new for me, and not much info on port boards.

In Martinique, we just got off the ship and walked around the shops a little bit. And in Dominica, we were going to go Cave tubing, but decided against it because of my medical issues. But they say that Dominica is known for being rocky and not a "beachy" port. You go there for the scenery.

We took the Ferry to the beach in Martinique. I wrote about it in the Martinique Board. In Dominica we did the ships excursion to Emerald Pool and Twin Falls. Really beautiful but a little harder to get to twin falls than they described in the paperwork. Lots of walking through slippery mud and down steep slippery concrete and rocks where you had to hold on to a rope. In order to get in and swim you had to walk over more slippery rocks under water. Good grippy water shoes a must. I'll post pictures later it doesn't seem to be working now.

Thank you so much for sharing information. This thread is great! My question is: what are the usual show times? For example, we are interested in seeing Rock of Ages but want to know what time we should plan our dinner. Thanks again!

Pretty much 7 & 9 but Rock of Ages and Cirque are at different times as listed in the NCL website. Make reservations for those. Although we saw Rock this past Monday (the second Monday of the cruise and only the second time they showed it) and the theater was not full. We are seeing Cirque tonight with dinner and they told us to arrive at 6:10.

And how has the weather been? Were you able to sit outside on day 2?

We really had great weather overall. There was some rain here and there but we have been away for 14 days. I think it was cool the first day. Cloudy and it may have rained but it was warm enough to go out with a light hoodie. Funny, very warm and sunny now but it just got really windy. The water was a little rocky a few nights. Last night in particular. It was the 80s party and the water was splashing out of the hot tubs all over the dance floor.

I just asked the waiter in the Haven about the new menus. They will be getting what is being served on the Escape on February 17

Do you know if the New menus are for just dinner or for breakfast and lunch too? I heard that there was going to be an attempt to have a different menu in the Haven, every night, like the MDR. Do you know if this is true?

My daughter is 3 years old and I was wondering what time splash academy is open until?

Splash Academy is open for free until 10:30pm and then for $6 per hour until 1:30am. I have the dailies for all ages and will post them once we get home.

Hi JoAnn. Looks like you started a roll call for the April BA sailing. We will be on the this one as well!

Question: Did this sailing offer a Chef's Table? And from another post, it appears that the Haven dinner menu has not changed (? The photo was a little small but it didn't look like it offered what was on the Escape's Haven menu, i.e. things like lobster, surf and turf, prime rib and sea bass.)

Thanks much. Hopefully will run into you in April!

RK

There were 2 nights with Chefs Table during this sailing.

I have a picture of the Haven menu and will post it once we get home.

Unfortunately??, we changed from the April sailing to the one I'm on now.

Does the Cafe at the Atrium on deck Six have FREE snacks like cake & cookies ?? .. or do they charge for them ?? ............

I like sailing on the Gem the Atrium bar has free snacks ! Muffins in the AM, cookies & cake for noon till they are gone !!

I looked this morning. You have to pay for all the snacks in the cases but there are servers all over the atrium with all you mentioned in platters and they walk around to the people seated and they walk up to you and offer as you walk in.

Likewise we were up at the main adult pool this morning from 10:30-1:30 and the whole time servers walked around serving the people on the loungers fruit on skewers and little sherbet ice push pops. They would not give me one while I was sitting in the hot tub. [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3] not allowed. Lol. I had to get out for fruit so she gave me two.

Are the rules different on $6 BJ tables and $10 BJ tables?

The payout for a blackjack on a $10 and higher would be 3:2. So a $10 bet would win you a $5 bonus. The reason it's a $6 minimum is the payout for a BJ is 6:5. You only get a $1 bonus instead of $3 on a $6 bet. That may not sound like much, but it skews the odds of the game heavily in favor of the house.

On the Gem, they had an electronic BJ game in the Spinnaker lounge that had a $5 minimum with 3:2 BJ AND had late surrender! The odds were better on that than the casino floor. I don't know if it survived the refurb on the GEM.

Read about it in my Gem review from last year: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2233186
