lynsteve Posted January 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Looking to book another RCI cruise from Australia on their own website page, there now seems to be no payment for tips in the quote for the cruise?? Is it now included as a ghost payment or have they done away with it??
beshears Posted January 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2016 I have never known a "quote" for tips to be in the price of the cruise cost. That is always "extra" when paying off your credit card that you give them for payment or bill. I think it is about $12.00 or something like that per day. CoopColbie Posted January 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2016 I know there was a time that if you booked My Time Dining you had to prepay your gratuities. But this has changed ... There is no need to pre-pay gratuities anymore.
Haoie Posted January 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2016 It's in the section after cabin selection, did you miss it? It was a tick box [and it was "optional"]
cb at sea Posted January 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Tips will be charged to your account daily....no worries! The tips are still there! Unless you're in Australia...they simply include tips into the price.
CPT Trips Posted January 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Tips will be charged to your account daily....no worries! The tips are still there! sarahleebones Posted January 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2016 You can either have them added when you book (prepay gratuities) or not. They *used* to make you prepay when you selected MTD but they do not anymore. If you want them added ask your TA to add them or call RCI if you booked through them. bonsai3s Posted January 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Just disembarked from the Voyager of the Seas in Sydney. We had traditional dining and was charged $12.95 per person per day. It was easy to check using the television inside our cabin. Note: Our travel agent also gave us the option of pre-paying gratuities before we sailed. We chose not to pre-pay because we wanted to use part of our onboard credit for gratuities. We gave additional tips to all crew members who were outstanding. Most Aussies we met chose to remove the gratuities at the end of the cruise and said they wanted to give it to individuals who truly deserved the tip. Perhaps someone can confirm if when a passenger removes the daily gratuities at the end of the cruise...will the crew receiving tips have to "pool" those tips? Thanks. TiiiSailor Posted January 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 11, 2016 I've read in other threads both answers, they are required to turn in any personal tips and they get to keep them. A mystery everyone would like to know the real answer to, but probably never will.
