marshhawk Posted January 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2016 I just got off a cruise ship last week-the cruise was great, the down time fantastic, I didn't even want to come home, but of course I did....... I had a cruise booked for next January, and decided, that since one 5 day cruise is not enough, I should book the week after too. Same cabin, booked both on line, but now that I am researching about back 2 backs- I read that I should Link the two sailings together-should I just call Carnival? When we drive in to park do we pay for the 10 days? Or do we have to get off the ship and go pay for the parking for the second cruise? This will be out of Mobile. Are there any perks for doing a b2b? I have been reading old posts, seems there were at one time. What do I need to know about b2b's? Can I do different dining times? Late on one, early on another? Or should I keep them the same. Right now we have anytime, but we were not very happy with the anytime on the Elation. I know I will have more questions, but that's it for now. Trumpster Posted January 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Yes just call carnival and have them link them as btb. We just did that. Had a 7 day booked and decided to add the 3 day prior to the 7 day. Its still 2 seperate cruises so two different booking numbers apply but the btb linking is for customs and their internal operations Most ports allow parking beyond standard week cruises. If you can pay you can park for quite a while. You might call the parking facility to make arrangements, but generally it shouldn't be a problem. Trumpster Posted January 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2016 You do get off the ship an go through customs but only you and not your luggage. The ship will tell you where to meet and will escort you and any others off the ship, through customs and back to check in and back on the ship. You will get new sign and sail cards, so rember to differen accounts, I do cash accounts so will need to make sure not to put to much money in the 3 day account. Miller_KC Posted January 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Do call the Carnival 800 number and ask to have your 2 bookings linked as a b2b. That way you get expedited through customs and back onto the ship. You can keep the same dining, and the same wait staff if you want or change it for your second cruise. If you are like us, you will enjoy the traditional dining better. I feel the waiters do a better job if they know they will see you all week and get they to know what you like. The ships have been known to give you some little gift for returning on a b2b so it's worth it to make sure they get linked.

Yes, call Carnival and have them link your bookings as a B2B. For the parking, it depends on the port. Some ports will only have you pay for the first cruise and some make you pay the whole time. Call the parking facility to find out. As for perks, there really isn't any except having the ship to yourself for a little bit. You also get a fruit basket in your room. You also get a picture with the other B2B guests and a free drink at the atrium bar. Yes, you can do different dining times. You can change it on the Carnival website under your booking. kona_wahine Posted January 20, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I didn't know we needed to link, so I just called carnival and linked our accounts. Will it say anything in my cruise docs? I just want to make sure, as there was an issue with DHs vifp number, and I was on the phone for half an hour. Just want to make sure it was done correctly. There will be nothing in your documents saying it a B2B. As far as Carnival is concerned, it is TWO separate cruises. Be sure to do online check in for both. Any "goodies" you get are completely at the discretion of the Hotel Director. Some are more generous than others.

marshhawk Posted January 20, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted January 20, 2016 And I'm hoping that the Fantasy treats us well, as well. If I purchase FTTF for the first half of the cruise, will they honor it throughout the trip? (second half of the b2b)

However, you can bring on 2 bottles of wine on the first leg. Just print out both boarding passes.
GUT2407 Posted January 20, 2016 #16 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Ring and get them linked. Don't think I got any bonuses. Can't see how a longer cruise can be a "screw up"? B2b or not 2b

If I purchase FTTF for the first half of the cruise, will they honor it throughout the trip? (second half of the b2b) Unless you are dealing with tender ports on second cruise, and even that wouldn't be worth $50 to me, there is no reason for FTTF for second cruise. You are escorted off ship thru customs and back on ship and your luggage is already in your room so I can see no advantage to FTTF on the second half. marshhawk Posted January 20, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I only book it (FTTF) so I can let my luggage off-so I wont buy it for the second part. It helps with the customer service desk, but unless my "whatever problem may arise" doesn't get rectified, I never use it.
ShakyBeef Posted January 20, 2016 #19 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Any time I've called Carnival I've felt "lucky" to have the call answered by someone who even knows what I'm talking about. How do you find a decent PVP? If a PVP hasn't already been automatically assigned to you (you would know if this were the case because he/she would have called or emailed you), call Carnival and ask to have one assigned. You will then have his extension number to enter when you call the 800 number, to get connected directly to him (or his voicemail if he is out). Having a good PVP makes things easier, smoother, and sometimes cheaper;). And the longer you're with one PVP, the better "trained" they become to your personal preferences.:)
marshhawk Posted January 20, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I called to link my two cruises for b2b, and got a perk right off the bat-the second cruise had had an OBC attached to it, I never even saw it when I booked, but she told me the first part of the b2b didn't have one. Based on the amount I had already paid, she changed the first booking, and now I have an OBC for the first half too. Since DH and I only order NA fruity drinks, at around 2.30 each, and one picture per cruise, we are now really covered!:):D
