mjgep0316 Posted January 31, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2016 On our past cruises, we have always subscribed to the theory of getting to the port as early as you can as getting on the ship as soon as possible. No sene in delaying the start of your vacation, right? Well, herein lies my question...on our next cruise on Jewel in March from San Juan, we have a JS and will arrive the day before embarkation. However, we were thinking of heading to the ship between 1 and 2 PM instead of late morning in hopes of avoiding the initial crowds. That way, we should be able to head straight to our cabin. Will the later boarding delay the delivery of our bags to our cabin? We would like to make a reservation at Chops at 6 PM so we can enjoy the late sail away after dinner...we can always pack dinner clothes in our carry on, but would prefer to be unpacked before dinner. Do you think our bags would arrive by about 4 PM, or is there no rhyme or reason to it?
Clarea Posted January 31, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2016 I've never seen any relationship between check-in time and luggage delivery time.

cb at sea Posted January 31, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) Bags are piled onto carts....if your bags are on the bottom, it will take them longer....if they happen to end up on the top of the pile, it's faster. There is no relation to boarding/bag delivery times. Priority boarding is for YOU...has nothing to do with your luggage!!! We've had the bags arrive before we ever got to the cabin, and we've had some bags not make it to the room until after dinner....you never know!!! Say hi to your cabin attendant, let them know you are still waiting for your bags. Sometimes it helps.
