Navaleye Posted February 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2016 It seems Pod 3 is playing up again. Too much heat and humidity and they are having to vent the pod to reduce the temperature before we can sail from Rio. I suspect the original 3 hour delay may be an under estimate. More to follow. Navaleye Posted February 3, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted February 3, 2016 We made a 25kt passage overnight and are now back on schedule for an on time arrival in Montevideo. Weather is a bit murky.

Underwatr Posted February 4, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) what happens if it over heats on Transatlantic crossing do they stop until it cools down. It's one of four pods so they can still make good speed with the remaining three. But it's one of two steerable pods so having it out of commission leaves the ship without redundant steering which is crucial when entering and leaving port. Good thing you have rowers on board. Murky, not good. Mosquito weather.

jimmybean Posted February 6, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 6, 2016 I wonder if pod-problem is with the same pod (# 3), reoccurring, or if this is a different one ??? (I didn't pay attention, if this was mentioned before, sorry). My understanding is that re-fit is not about mechanical repairs. Those seem to be addressed on a "as needed" basis. Keep us updated! Wonderful voyage! Wish I was aboard….
