dns65 Posted February 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Has anyone ever requested to be given gay table mates for dinner seating on a cruise?? And to answer the inevitable question that is going to come up "Two men in a cabin with the beds in a queen configuration." That's how the cruise like would know who the male couples are Is it possible to do this to the cruise line? Has anyone ever tried this?
Bo1953 Posted February 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2016 My inevitable question is, how do you suppose the cruise line should do this? Ask each passenger if they are gay or not? Then ask if they would like to sit with you???
DougandEric Posted February 3, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2016 The cruise line would never ask or assume someone's orientation. Your best bet would be to sign up for the line's 'anytime dining' option then attend the GLBT get together. If you meet someone you like ask if they want to dine with you. welshrich Posted February 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2016 I would just attend do as the other poster suggested, make friends with other couples and then suggest having dinner together, we prefer to dine with other gay couples to avoid any awkwardness but we've found that we've dined with other straight couples and had a great time with them, our minds are usually open even if some of theirs are not. Happy Cruising.
MiamiSpartan Posted February 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2016 When I booked my cruise, the form had a place to check if you were gay, straight or other. #notreally [emoji1][emoji1]
SakeDad Posted February 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2016 I see this working out well......just make sure you are on Atlantis or RSVP and you'll be guaranteed gay table mates! :p
tv24 Posted February 9, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 9, 2016 As others have suggested, with some amount of work, you can usually put together a sympatico table following some meet-ups in the LGBT gatherings. On the other hand, we once had a lovely experience on RCL where the cruise coordinators apparently read our beads and placed us at a table with 2 other guys plus a two TV stars from Buenos Aires and two cool straight people from Vancouver BC. This was the dinner table from heaven, and we had a great time together and followed dinner with dancing in the disco. Caution, this is not guaranteed! tv24 Posted February 22, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Wished I was at your table. Well we've now had 18 cruises total and this was the only time that we ended up at such a sympatico table. We've had some very gay-friendly cruises and a couple of times where there were issues, but never a table quite like this one on this RCL.
Rare Turtles06 Posted February 23, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) Well, be careful what you wish for, or at least please don't assume that gay tablemates will necessarily make for good or better dinner companions. A couple of years ago we were in a Pied Piper group, and one of the guys at our table was totally off-putting in his lack of manners and the offensive political comments he would make. Pretty much drove people to specialty dining. Edited February 23, 2016 by Turtles06
ehfl Posted February 25, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2016 We were seated once at an 8-top with all gay couples. This was not a gay cruise, they just had a very attentive Maître D'.

Once we had a table for two and the table next was also for two which happened to be two gay guys. Very compatible and had a great time. Not every gay person is a good companion. Most are however. JohnKen3 Posted February 28, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 28, 2016 Why getto-ise yourselves? We always ask for a large table and are open about ourselves. I remember a Princess cruise we did in the late 90s. There were a couple of wives coming up to us speaking to us quietly after seeing that we had a happy relationship and they had a brother/son they were "concerned about". We have alway felt included even back then, even though we were probably the first knowingly gay couple that some of these cruises has dined with. Now a days it no issue whatsoever. The world has progressed a very long way. A couple of nights at the piano lounge is good way to work out the gay couples on a cruise.

Several of us linked up at the LGBT get together on the Regal Princess a few weeks back & dined in the Specialty rest. a few times. We were "traditional early seating" most were doing the anytime dining so we'd hang out at Crooner's bar before dinner & make plans.
