How long is the walk from where? What is your starting point?

 

If you're asking how far to the Sistine Chapel from the entrance of the museum, it is about 450 to 500 meters, depending on how they route you. The routing through the museum isn't always exactly the same -- depends on crowds, whether rooms are closed, etc.

I assume it is the entrance to the Vatican Museum where we start. Is there another way, a shortcut?

From the entrance to the Vatican museum it is approximately 450m - roughly equivalent to walking the distance of 5 football fields, end to end (not counting the end zones).

No, there is no other way for visitors to get there. If you are a member of a papal enclave, yes, but for the rest of us it's the hike from the entrance.
