I feel as though the staffing is too light on the mega ships. The jewel class ships seem to have amazing service levels, while breakaway the crew seems very over worked. But I've heard getaway crew has it nailed. Go figure!!!! As a fellow platinum, I really enjoy the Gem and big ships over the mega. Although the mega ships like BA and GA are beautiful, the service experience is always best on the other ships.

I feel its more that people expect more and started cheesing the crew of tips...gimme gimme gimme....and nothing in return....how many freestyle cruisers are penny pinchers....I work in the industry for people to spend money, I see how they are getting cheaper and cheaper when it comes to taking care of those who take care of them.....

How can you say people are cheesing the crew of tips?? There is a mandatory gratuity charged to EVERY customer. Your post makes ZERO sense. I look forward to you explaining how customers are getting cheaper when prices are rising and gratuities are mandatory.

Zero sense??? People now feel that once they board the ship that they dont owe anyone anything.....that they paid for what they are gonna get. Ive even seen people treat the room steward like a slave. I watched one guy on the private island in GSC completly freak out on the bartender cause he thyought his drink was weak and threw it at the bartender......Pay for the cruise...pay for the service...tip the people that work 7 days a week for 9 months...IF you have a problem with gratutities charges then DONT CRUISE!!!!!!! Make it cheaper for my fare in the next year so I can give my room steward even more..;):p

Do you feel like the automatic charges are not sufficient? I do bring extra cash to tip above and beyond when the service warrants it, but feel no need to go beyond the auto for typical service. Personally I would rather pay servers more and not tip, but then you run into this idea of the auto not being enough.

I also really don't think people treating servers badly has to do with tipping. Some people are just awful people. As a nurse I'm obviously not tipped, but treat everyone kindly because it says more about me than them. Of course, it's awesome when people appreciate you, but you have no control over someone else, only your own behavior.

Just off the Breakaway 14 day also. Hate to confirm it, but the prime ribs are gone. Didn't know about the changes when I went to O' Sheehans looking for the pot pie that so many people had raved about and it was gone.

Say it ain't so- no more prime rib ANYWHERE?..or are you specifically speaking of the famous "embarkation night O'S's prime rib special"?

I was so looking forward to that & the pot pies. To me, that's even more dire than slow service and lengthy adult beverage refill times. Drats.

In the famous Doug Out review of the Escape a couple weeks ago, O'Sheehan's still ran a prime rib special. It was also still listed for 2 nights in the Freestyle Dailies from last week. Escape has had the new O'Sheehan's menu from her first sailing and is still running Prime Rib.

I totally agree with you sizzle NCL has really cheapened up over the last 5 years . I have over 160 days sailing with them so I can speak from long time experience . Took a carnival 3 years ago kinda gave them up years ago but you know the food actually gat alot better on them. The carnival dream was a great ship good food and there slides were really fun, Grandkids loved the whole boat . The pasta bar was a favorite of all of us.

no frickin way , no lobster anymore , shrimp cocktails more rice n pastas half the stuff not even sure what it is. Most is the left overs from previous menus

It's all opinions and nobody is right or wrong.

Personally, I agree with LrgPizza. I think the food has improved.

I can't agree with the more pastas comment. If I have a criticism of the new MDR menus it is that they no longer have the every day pasta items which used to ensure that my wife and son, both fussy eaters, could find something they liked.

I really hope there is still the prime rib and ribs specials in O'Sheehans when I'm on Getaway next month. I have been promising them to my husband for months.

Menu looks good to me. I see many things I'd like

While I see many things to like for lunch and late night snacks, it will be disappointing if Prime Rib is removed as I was looking forward to dinner here one evening just to break up going to the MDR each night. I hope a Prime Rib night remains.

Can you order sandwiches and apps at breakfast time, or order breakfast in the afternoon?

Like to try? Or like?

Menu's have no taste and what looks good on paper may not look or taste so good on your plate.

NCL certainly does not deserve the benefit of the doubt the food will be good.

Well my taste buds are never wrong. If the food sucks they will know it. ;)

Having had similar bar type food on an NCL ship I'm reasonably confident the taste will be there. I guess we will see.

Considering all the changes in the last year...

  • Nickelodeon gone
  • Geoffrey Zakarian gone
  • 18% gratuity on specialty dining
  • DSC raised twice
  • drink prices raised
  • 18% gratuity on drinks
  • 18% gratuity on food/coffee purchases ( Java Cafe/Carlo's/gelato etc)
  • Asian Noodle restaurant complimentary but reduced menu
  • Hippo Slide on GSC gone
  • Fireworks gone
  • UDP is now SDP
  • UBP used to be for everyone in room, but now it's just first two passengers
  • Room service $7.95 except for a much smaller limited "continental breakfast"
  • Blue Man Group gone
  • Now pay taxes on "free" UBP/SDP
  • No more kids pricing in specialty restaurants
  • Port times shortened on a number of itineraries "for your convenience"
  • No more free Cirque or Illusionarium on first night with dining package
  • Margaritaville on Escape is now a la carte. Used to be included.
  • Cancellation policy got much worse.

Yeah, it's nice to see a positive. And yes, after I take this cruise that I booked since July, I'm taking a break from NCL. I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Interesting. Never knew Cirque was ever free. Only one of these that is bothersome to me would be shortened port times as we cruise mostly for the ports. With the free perks they are now including on many bookings, it is not surprising that DSC or other revenue sources have been tapped. The bills have to get paid one way or another...

Now to go look and see if they still have fish and chips.....

Thank you for the post of the menu! Fish and Chips is still there and DH will be very pleased that a reuben is on the menu. He spent our last two cruises (HAL and Celebrity to places NCL doesn't go) looking for the illusive reuben. X had a sandwich in the buffet they called a reuben but it wasn't at all like any we'd every had.
