Your stateroom can be assigned anytime between now and the day of the cruise.

 

Your TA can tell you, or you can periodically check your booking on Royal's website. If it shows a stateroom number, then it's been assigned.

I have done 2 guarantee cabins in the past.

 

Most recently for Anthem, I selected a guarantee balcony and got assigned almost immediately (less than an hour) after upgrading from inside to balcony.

 

For Norwegian, it took about 2 weeks or so.

 

So it definitely varies.

Any time up to and including sailing day. One way or the other, you will have a cabin. Not to worry.

I switched my May cruise from the Oasis to the Allure last Friday. By Tuesday, my cabin had been assigned. I wasn't crazy about the location, so I called and switched to another cabin in that category. I love it when they have great rates on guarantee cabins.
