BIG POOCH Posted February 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2016 I keep calling the upsell number and they keep sticking to the same price. When I ask if I can get it lower, and even name the price $250 less per person then they are asking, I still get told to keep calling back and that it might drop but that they cannot negotiate prices. Is there some trick to this?
david_sobe Posted February 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2016 There is no trick and they will not negotiate prices. Boy that would be fun! Haven suites mostly sell out and if they don't they will cut prices about 45 days prior to sailing. Please pass along that upsell number you have discovered ;)
ARI421 Posted February 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2016 They started quoting me $750 a person they are now down to $500 a person!
BIG POOCH Posted February 24, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted February 24, 2016 They sent me an email on this past Friday saying $1250 per person for the 2 bdrm Haven H4. Then on Monday, I got another email saying $1000 per person. I tried offering them $750 and they claim they can't negotiate, but all over these boards people talk about negotiating with them. KevInPitt Posted February 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2016 Perhaps you need to understand how "negotiation" works. There is nothing that says either party must accept the others offer/counter-offer. Just as you have the right to say no to their offer, they have the right to say no to yours. cyndepet Posted February 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2016 I can tell you that NCL did negotiate with me over a week ago when I called about an upsell. Their first offer was too high, and I counter offered a lower price. I then asked about availability of owner's suites, and I ended up with the DOS for only $50 pp more than my initial counter offer. Again, this is only my personal experience, and yours may vary greatly!

Please pass along that upsell number you have discovered ;) You are incorrect, I negotiated an H9 in November. I pointed out they had no movement on the H9's in over 3 weeks since they started sending out upsell offers. They put me on hold for a minute and took my offer. (The first 2 calls to them on Monday & Wednesday I was turned down, on Friday they accepted).
Jenjer Posted February 25, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Supply and demand baby. They will most likely not accept it the first time they call because they will try more people hoping one will jump on it. After a few days if no one has taken the upsale they are more likely to come down a bit. Unless you are in a cabin category they have oversold, but you won't know that. cyndepet Posted February 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Can you call if you are working with a TA or do they have to call? TIA You can call the upsell department directly, even if you are working with a TA.
djmcwilliams106 Posted April 14, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 14, 2016 Anyone have an idea of when to call upsell dept? I have Casino offer for comp inside, upgraded to Mini Suite, would really like to upgrade to M9 Haven Spa Suite. Called Casino last week and they quoted me an addl' $1500pp. I am looking to knock this down by at least half. I keep watching the suites daily and with 45 days out today they still have 14 available. Just wondering if they have even started trying to upsell yet or not and when I should call? pathubia Posted April 14, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 14, 2016 The upsell for the suite I wanted was $500pp, I offered $750 total, they came back with $800, I accepted, and glad I did, they sold out at that upsell price. That was for the Dawn in a SD 30 days before the cruise.

myra711 Posted April 14, 2016 #16 Share Posted April 14, 2016 When people quote what the upsell cost is, I always wonder if it depends at all on what they have already booked - eg, an inside cabin or a balcony -would the upsell price remain the same? I believe a lot depends on what you already paid, not what you booked. So, if youv'e paid more than someone else, your upsell price would be less.
