Just got home from our 5 day on the Fascination out of JAX traveling to Nassau & Half Moon Cay. If anyone has any questions, will try and answer. I'm hoping to do a trip report/review this weekend. BTW - Trip was awesome. Weather was better than expected. Service was wonderful. Happy Campers :D

What kinda room did you have? I'm wanting to try an aft balcony. How was the lines? Did it feel crowded?

We originally had a balcony but had upgraded to a junior (ocean) suite on the veranda deck. Since we had 3 in our room, the extra space was nice. I thought the lines were okay. We ate in the MDR every night, so didn't do the buffet that much and we usually ate breakfast early. I never felt that it was crowded at all. Actually was talking about how it was nice that they seemed to have a lot of deck chairs (didn't see a lot of chair hogs at all) around the ship. The pool area was obviously crowded and the Serenity deck filled up pretty quickly. They did a Dr Seuss birthday gathering in the atrium which was pretty crowded but that's about all. Hope that helps :o

Did you do a cabana in HMC? If so, what number do you recommend? Also, did you do any other excursion in HMC?

We did have a cabana. It was #10 which was a good location but if we had to do it again, I would have picked the higher numbers, maybe #12 or #13. Between #9 and #10 are the bathrooms, so you seemed to have more foot traffic. I do have pictures which I'm hoping to post.

We did not do any other excursion since we had the cabana.

How was the ship in general? Everything on good working order? Leaving on her in 45 days!

This had been only our second Carnival cruise, the first one being the Liberty last year. Older ship, but I didn't feel like it was bad at all. We did have just one problem with water dripping down the wall in our stateroom on the last night that maintenance had to come and deal with. Took them a little while to fix, but room was all cleaned up and no problems after. The crew definitely keep busy cleaning constantly which was great. Overall I really enjoyed it and would not hesitate to cruise on her again.

My nephew will be on the Fascination during the NCAA tourney. I don't think there is a Sports Bar on this ship but he was wondering where you would gather to watch the games? Is there a big screen at the pool?

The "official" sports watching area is the Beverly Hills Bar aft in front of the Puttin' on the Ritz lounge on deck 9 Promenade. There are two TVs in this area and lots of chairs. During the tourney, they will probably have games on at the Stars Bar, outside the casino - also deck 9, and in the Coconut Grove Bar & Grill (in the back) - deck 10 Lido, as well. Sorry, no pool side big screen.

Hope he has a great cruise!

Just be aware that if your not a smoker, avoid the Stars Bar. That's pretty much where the smokers hung out and you had the smoke from the casino too.

My in laws were on this trip...helpful also is if you book an inside cabin don't book in very front on Empress deck. The crew lounge/bar is up there and you'll get the smoke from there filtering into you cabin. Wish I could take the repositioning cruise next month. We sailed on this one her first trip out of Jax and would be neat to sail out of Jax on her last one.

I actually liked the smaller ship but that was on a 5 day cruise. Not sure about it for a 8 day. Not a lot of things to do for that long if you need to be entertained. If laying out and relaxing, not sure it would matter. We were on 11 forward and didn't feel much rocking except for one night but the weather was really nice for the whole cruise. We're actually doing a similar itinerary on the Magic in 2017 out of Port Canaveral.

What are the must do-s onboard?

We loved the comedy club. We are not much into gambling, so didn't spend a lot of time in the casino. The things I wished we had done were the piano bar and maybe go down the slide at least once ;) We caught most of the Motown show which was fun and part of the Divas which was okay.

You will be fine on the Fascination. Easy to get around, more than adequete

I will be doing it in a midship balcony May 1st. I did quite a bit of research using comments from past posts and reviews. If you are interested I can lead you to where I posted them.

With there only being one sea day I think we will have plenty to do on the ship and not get bored. Plus we are the type to be okay with lounging by the pool for the day.
