Five Weeks on the Vision of the Seas

Recommended Posts

After many false starts, I finally picked out which cruises to keep and which to drop and which to add. Spent lots of time with the RCI reps (and even longer trying to get calls through). It’s done, I’m committed…..

First,

2 weeks back to back in the Caribbean starting on April 2. The Vision only has one itinerary for the Caribbean right now, so I will repeat all the ports. But how can a trip to the Caribbean be boring? Plus, I am a beach person, so I will get to try different beaches on the second leg, and maybe one day, stay on the ship when everyone is off exploring.

I’ve spent hours researching, emailing and corresponding with people on Cruise Critic (CC), tour companies, and friends that have been to some of the places I will end up seeing. Then onto the next part of my bucket list.

continuation....

Finally a Transatlantic (TA).

Yay for me!!

I was almost sure I was going to do it…..and on a small ship like the Vision, and out of Tampa, where I have friends and family to visit. I emailed some of those friends and asked if they had ever cruised on the Vision or out of Tampa, and they said “only on our last four cruises”. My other “cruising” friends here in Costa Rica have also been on the Vision, and like it more than the “mega ships”.

Barcelona has been my real goal, and I was going to find an inexpensive B&B to stay at and really get to see it all. Like all great plans, this one evolved. When corresponding with a new CC friend that was doing the Caribbean, the TA and the next b2b cruises in Europe. I couldn’t pass up the Barcelona to Venice cruise. I mean, it was going to Cannes and Rome and Venice!

My in depth touring in Barcelona will have to wait for another cruise. I have to go again!

I will wait until I’m on the ship to take advantage of the specials you get for booking while cruising, and by the final week I will be Diamond, so some of those discounts may help me. Or I will have talked to enough experienced cruisers and found some new ideas for the best way to book a good price with some OBC (on board credit)

to be continued.....:o

I can't tell for sure IF you are still sailing on the VOS out of Tampa the 2nd of April. If so my niece, her father (my brother) and I are all sailing with you out of Tampa for the 1st week.

This is my our first time on the VOS. I have sailed many of the RCCL ships in the 70's and 80's - but only two in the 90's.

Hope to see you onboard - I'm a bit surprised that you chose spring break week to start. The only reason we are going then is my niece is on college break then.

Very much looking forward to you reviews of the Vision of the Seas. We plan to cruise with our family on that ship in October. Since that will be our 1st RCCL cruise and also of course the 1st one on Vision, we hope to learn more from you.

Although I would imagine I would love to do the 5 weeks with you, I'll have to settle being thankful I can do the one week (the 9th) with you. You'll have to scope out the casino and pick out a good machine for our slot pull.

We're on the Vision on April 2, also. I did a lot of research before booking, and it seemed to me that most spring breaks are over by then....hopefully....:(

However, from what the sailing looks like it's pretty sold out. I have a feeling that the Northern schools may be still doing spring break.

Our's here in Tampa Bay are out this week. And, most college breaks are earlier.

I sure hope it's just that it's the more mature crowd (be they young or older) that are maybe doing B2B's staying on a week longer after the Easter break.

;)

Hi Linda,

Hopefully by now you've been having a good time enjoying Vision of the Seas. I wanted to ask if this sailing had a M&M. According to RCI's list, they had it scheduled for embarkation day at 11 am. Needless to say, I figured that wasn't correct. As of today, they still haven't listed the M&M date, time and location for our sailing this coming weekend. I was hoping I could guesstimate ours by the time of yours. If nothing else, we could have our own, even RCI doesn't participate. LOL

Thanx

Erika

Yes, there was an M&M meetiing - Vicki from our rollcall was kind enough to call and let me know that it had been changed to the 3rd at 11. We tried to get on the list through guest relations - NO GO. And, we even went up for the meeting in the Crown - they wouldn't let us in - so be SURE to sign up before they close the list for your sailing. I was shocked that they wouldn't let us in . . .

The school district I live in is having spring break RIGHT NOW.

A nearby one had it last week. One up the highway was 2 weeks ago.

Spring break can go from mid-March until nearly May, I've found, when including ALL types of schools.

This was the first time I ever saw the M&M with a guest list where they checked off your name.
