kkbay Posted March 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2016 We've cruised out of Rome before and I cannot remember who we used to drive us to the port from the airport. Any recommendations? We used a driver two years ago and I cannot remember who it was. Thanks in advance!:)
CruiserBruce Posted March 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2016 If you look down the board, there are MANY recommendations, including the huge thread on the wonderful Rome in Limo. There are also several threads on train (if you can manage your luggage), and other options.
Rare Hlitner Posted March 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2016 We prefer Romecabs....but much of this is just personal preference. In fact, if you want to simply go from FCO directly to the port you can just walk outside the terminal and grab any taxi. Hank
kkbay Posted March 9, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I finally found my paperwork and saw that we had used RomeCabs a few years ago. They were great - no problems. Thanks for your help!
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Lots of options. Our go to is Rome Cabs (not a taxi service) and their web site is http://www.romecabs.com Keith

Rare Hlitner Posted March 9, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2016 We take the train. Kirk, you know we do usually agree on most issues. But when it comes to using the train to and from FCO, we no longer find it a great option if we have a lot of luggage. It is just a pain in the behind. And the relocation of the port entrance at Civitavecchia makes the situation even worse. So unless we are in the mood to really pinch pennies, this is one of those times when we pay the extra money for a transfer. Besides, if we are going from the Port to FCO to catch a late morning flight, it only takes about 50 min from door to door. With the train it can take about 2 hours (or more), you need to get transportation to the Civitavecchia train station (unless you are willing to walk nearly a mile with your own luggage) and then once at FCO we have to drag our luggage outside and onto an airport shuttle bus to get to Terminal 5 (where nearly all USA bound flights much check-in). We will be in Civitavecchia again in a few weeks (as a cruise stop) and will likely use the train to and from Rome. But we will have no luggage and will not be in a big rush to catch a flight. kkbay Posted March 10, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Contacted RomeCabs and have already secured our reservation. Very professional and great reviews on this site and others. We do not wish to take the train with luggage in tow in Italy. Have heard horror stories from others and would rather have a driver. Flying to Rome on air miles and not staying in a hotel, so this is our little splurge.
