Camoclad Posted March 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2016 Looking for suggestions on a beach for the day in Nassau. Not looking to book an excursion through the ship. We have a family of seven and just want a place to get some sun and sand for the day, maybe rent a couple chairs and able to buy some drinks. We will take a taxi from the port, just wanting suggestions from folks who may have done something similar in the past. Thanks for the help! Clarea Posted March 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Cable Beach is a very nice beach, maybe a 10 minute taxi ride. Yiou can also get there on the #10 bus for $1.25 per person. You may also want to post in the Bahamas ports forum: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58 Edited March 22, 2016 by clarea

R_i_c_h Posted March 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2016 If you don't want to cab/bus it to the beach, consider getting a day pass at British Colonial Hilton. It's a block past the Straw Market. You pay $60 for a day pass but you get $40 back in food/drink credit. Kids 6-12 is $30/$15 pass/credit, I believe. Kids 5 and under are free. They have hooded beach chairs, a bar, a pool, clean facilities, etc. There are definitely nicer beaches, but this is very convenient if you don't want to venture out too far. Rare CruisinCrow Posted March 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2016 That's a lot of $$$$ just for a beach It's not just for the beach. It's also for food, drinks, pool, lounge chairs, towels and bathroom facilities. And you don't have to pay for a bus or taxi to get there. If you look at it that way, it's not a bad deal. :)
Rare CruisinCrow Posted March 22, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 22, 2016 Hard to beat Paradise Island. Is this by the RIU hotel and how recent is it? As of October, they closed the public entrance next to RIU. I've heard there's another entrance about a mile farther down the beach but I haven't been able to get any details. I've been wondering if the vendors all moved down there.
