Galveston Hotel- walking distance?

Are there any hotels in walking distance from the port? I have looked into Harbor House, but I will be there in June and there is a 2 night minimum :(

Also looking at Baymont Inn & Suites Galveston or Hampton Inn & Suites Galveston.

Harbor House at Pier 21. We walked past the Carnival terminal to the Royal terminal a few years ago. Not a bad walk.

I checked there first; they have a 2 night minimum. :( Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Yes, one of the problems that can crop up with staying on the island. Keep checking, they may relax the 2-night minimum closer to your sailing date.

At over $200 a night, we can only do one night in Galveston. :( Good to know those are the only two hotels in walking distance!

BUT, with that said, we are going to be flying into Texas in the morning-are there any fun activities that should not be missed in Galveston? (For 2 adults)

Most hotels on the island have shuttles that run you to the port and to the Strand area of town.

Walking around the strand, right there at the port, is great. We drive down there once a month just for something fun to do. King's Candy Shop and Ice Cream is a must. They make the candy right there in front of you and you can stock up for your cruise. A lot of shopping along there and cool bars/restaurants. Our favorite place for shrimp is there -- called Shrimp and Stuff.

For the Seawall, you have Pleasure Island -- it is a pier with rides, etc. I know -- the name makes it sound different. A lot of people like to rent the tandem bikes and ride the seawall. There is also Moody Gardens. More stores, restaurants, and bars. One of our favorite stops on the seawall is called The Spot. Good food and drinks.

Any ideas on which hotels might have a shuttle to the Strand? (If not, no worries! Thought it was worth asking.) :)

Went ahead and booked at the Hampton inn. Doesn't look like they have a shuttle to the strand, but they have great reviews on tripadvisor. (And do not require a 2 night minimum in June).

Thanks, all!

Just walk up to the San Luis and they will take you over there. hampton Inn does have a shuttle but they charge a fee to take you to the strand or to the port. So I have been told.
