A quick one - how long to exit Sydney harbour?

I was looking at dinner reservations at the specialty restaurant on carnival spirit, and I wonder what time you actually end up going through the heads? (Or alternately just how long it takes for a cruise ship to exit the harbour) I'd like to stay on deck or on our balcony while we leave the harbour so dong want to book a time that's too early.

around 45 minutes to an hour is my recollection

Agree. All going to plan I would allow for an hour from cast off until reaching the heads.

Yes 30/45 minutes but this can sometimes depend on what way you are facing at the OPT. Turning does take some time.:)

We were just there. It depends on where the ship docks. Iwouldn't miss a minute of the arrival or departure, and I'd allocate at least one full hour. More if you are in the far off dock. LittleRedJohn

Also be aware you don't always leave on time.

 

If g at OPT being even a little late can be a problem as there is a window where ships can't leave (during peak hour ferry time).

If you're at all concerned I would choose sail away over a set time for dinner. Sydney harbour is one of the best in the world.
