Hmmm. Is that why people cancel and rebook?

Sometimes, Royal won't give a lower price on an existing booking, so cancelling and rebooking is the only option for those folks with no penalty for cancelling.

If we are past final payment and should the price actually be lower, can we get something adjusted and possibly get the pre-paid gratuities?

If you are past final payment, they won't give you any credit. You are in the penalty period and will lose a good chunk of money if you cancel and rebook. However, you can weigh that against the amount you would save (if any) by paying current price and getting gratuities included.

If I remember my math, means basically 25% off.

25% off < 30% off

 

The current promotion is 30% off both 1st and 2nd guest, isn't it? The new promotion next week is full price for 1st guest and 50% off 2nd guest with 25% off 3rd/4th...is that correct?

If you cancel and rebook isn't it possible that during that split second, or few minutes to refresh, that you might lose the exact cabin you wanted? Or does the agent have control of that room while it is in the state of processing? What if someone grabs it while you are still on the phone with Royal?

You are correct, there is a risk of losing the stateroom. That's why it's much better if you can get them to change the existing booking. However, in the rare instance when they won't change, and the monetary/perk gains are worth the risk, then I'd go the cancel/rebook route.

I booked under the 30% off. Does that stop me from taking advantage of future offers or price drops? No OBC so I'm not worried about losing that.

Waiting on the new dates next week for Eastern Caribbean - wonder how much they will jack up the price with this promotion.
