Rare GeezerCouple Posted April 2, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2016 We have cruised many different lines and they all seem to be one or the other if I recall. NCL is a "Pepsi products" line. We only drink Diet Coke. (Well, when drinking cola, we only drink Diet Coke. We also drink nice wine :)) So we bring aboard a duffel bag full of bottles of Diet Coke. (We use bottles, as the tops can be put back on to reduce the chance of spills.)

don't-use-real-name Posted April 6, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) This could be put another way - "THINGS GO BETTER WITH COKE" ! Sadly NCL hasn't got that right. Years ago NCL had Coca Cola products and someone from Pepsi made them an offer they couldn't refuse (arm twisting 180 degrees) payola - kickbacks - bribes accepted - exclusive contracts etc. So if you want Coke bring your own. Suggestions: 1) Bring your selections from home 2) Buy it at a store or concession before boarding the ship 3) While in a Port of Call find a source to replenish your supply The same applies for 7UP and Dr. Pepper drinks. But for a 7 day cruise I don't think the withdrawal effects are going to be a bother after all there are other drinks to be consumed on board. Also note that canned drinks are limited on most NCL ships - the trend is plastic solo cups with the beverage fountain dispensed out of a wand. AND Caution having a lot of ICE in your drink of which there is not a lot of drink. On the flip side if you bring your own canned or bottled soft drinks you can have a lot of beverage and add the right amount of ice but will have to alert remind the cabin steward to keep the ice bucket filled. don't-use-real-name Posted April 6, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) Do they have diet sprite or diet Sierra mist? Diet Sprite is a Coke product - the Diet Sierra Mist is a Pepsi product. Both of these are similar to 7UP but will a different level of Lemon/Lime consistency ! Edited April 6, 2016 by don't-use-real-name

ngrund Posted April 7, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 7, 2016 i wish some of these companies (hotels/casinos/cruise lines) would just get both so those we could each get what we want I prefer Coke over Pepsi, but Sierra Mist over Spite, and Barqs Root Beer over Mug...I guess I'll just have to drink beer and frozen concoctions:)

TheBearAK Posted April 8, 2016 #17 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Just a note: The cans of pepsi are available, but tough to get out of them. They, of course, want you to drink the bar-fountain pepsi. I found that even bottled coke from NYC tasted different from what I drink in Alaska, and the bottles in the various islands of the Caribbean were also different, sweeter in some cases, almost pepsi-like. I found that even bottled coke from NYC tasted different from what I drink in Alaska, and the bottles in the various islands of the Caribbean were also different, sweeter in some cases, almost pepsi-like. We noticed a real difference in the Diet Cokes we carried on board (purchased in Miami) and the Diet Coke we got in the Caribbean ports. I think the sweetener might have been different. For different markets, the formula might differ a bit, or perhaps it's just the sweetener. For example, Costco sometimes has the regular Coke in glass bottles, from Mexico, with cane sugar, not fructose-based sweetener. (Haven't tasted it; just noticed it.) And the taste from the aluminum tins is, for us, really unpleasant. Next best is the plastic bottle. We *finally* found some small glass bottles of Diet Coke locally, but with the beer-cap type cover, they can't be re-capped, so it loses the "spillproof/resistant" quality ;)

Sundown331 Posted June 10, 2016 #21 Share Posted June 10, 2016 I prefer RC Cola but no big deal .... All 3 of them taste great with a generous shot of Pussers Rum mixed in. :D Mexican coke however is far better than its American sibling. Cane sugar is tastier than high fructose corn syrup. welove2cruise* Posted October 3, 2016 #24 Share Posted October 3, 2016 Does anyone know when the contract with Pepsi expires? NCL used to have coke products (I always bought the coke package until the Pepsi switch). I am really hoping that maybe a change would come. I carried my caffeine free Diet Coke to Italy for our two week vacation. They have Coke light but it tastes nothing like our Diet Coke in the states. I always just brought my own after the switch to Pepsi. I would love it if they did a contract with Coke and put the nice self serve machines in like RCL has. Cruisin'Christine Posted October 12, 2016 #25 Share Posted October 12, 2016 I am reading that cruisers bring their own Coke products on board. Don't they get confiscated by the cruise line? I am told that NCL confiscates bottled water, if people try to bring that, so isn't it the same with Coca Cola?
