Gift Cards

We recently paid for a portion of our cruise with Celebrity Gift Cards. I know that Celebrity has a $1k per booking gift card maximum.

 

My question is can we use gift cards to purchase Celebrity on Board gifts, if we've already maxed out our $1k max in the booking that we are purchasing gifts for?

My understanding is that Celebrity does not sell Gift Cards. I found this out when calling Captain's Club to try to purchase one. There are a couple places like PayPal that sell Celebrity Gift Cards but they are limited on their use.

 

Many people do buy "On-Board Credits" from Celebrity. I do not believe there are any limits on these as many Canadian's use them to help with the exchange rate of the CAN $. These should be refundable if not fully used at the end of the cruise. OBC's can be purchased on Celebrity Website under GIFTS.

We just received one thru "points" on one of our credit cards. Are you saying we will have difficulty using this on board for anything?:mad:

One note on gift cards, especially those gotten via credit card points, if you are buying trip insurance some insurers do not consider gift cards "real currency" and will not cover that portion of your payment. Cost me $500 when we had to cancel last minute a few years ago.
