Sillyjilly Posted October 17, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted October 17, 2005 Hi there, I too had an absolute ball on this cruise and canot believe I mad it a whole weekw tihout meeting you Jill! How could that manage to happen? The group is thinking of making this a yearly GTG! I ran into Mari & Lois nearly every day. Linda bumped into me once. I was too tired to get up for the CC party. 10:30 in the morning is waaaay toooo early. Especially when we moved the clock ahead the night before. Yikes!!! I met a few people at the back of the ship after muster. I can only remember talking to Janine and Tony. We probably bumped into each other and didn't even know it. :D It was an awesome cruise. The cruise staff and crew were soooooooooo friendly. I loved the food and the variety of choices each day. My son loved the sushi. (YUCK) We had an awesome waiter and asst. waiter. Absolutely fabulous. This cruise knocked the socks off of all 3 of my Princess cruises put together! I'm seriously considering changing my future RCL cruise to Celebrity. We'll see. Darwin, our bartender at the back of the ship on Deck 10, was awesome. Very friendly and eager to please. Paul Strohm (sp?) sang 60's, 70's, and 80's songs. He was great! I hope he is on my next cruise!! Hubby took home some winnings in the casino. That was nice. Loved the art work throughout the ship. Very interesting! Okay, back to work. If I think of anything else, I'll come back. Toodles, Jill
Sillyjilly Posted October 18, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted October 18, 2005 please give details about dress for informal nights. did some ladies wear short cocktail dresses on fromal nights? thanks. Informal for women were dresses and pantsuits. Formal had cocktail dresses, pantsuits and long formal dresses. Men wore jackets on informal and tie and jacket for formal. Casual was usually just slacks and shirt. Jill

Sillyjilly Posted October 18, 2005 Author #10 Share Posted October 18, 2005 Oh, I forgot to mention the wonderful Maitre D on the Summit. He had the chef prepare us 3 plates of shrimp scampi on the last night. Yum!! Jill
Rare boards Posted October 19, 2005 #11 Share Posted October 19, 2005 I am considering a Panama Cruise Apr. 2007 (Summit) and we usually book inside cabins. The size is the question. On the HAL they are at least 182 sq. ft and on the this ship they are 170 sq. ft. I was wondering if there is anyone who has experienced these two cabins sizes and have any comment to make about them. I know it's a small difference in size but I'm afraid size does mean something to me.

We usually do inside cabins--yes the cabins on HAL are a little bigger, but not by much. Actually prefer the design and decor of the Celebrity ships, however, HAL has the best "bedding" at sea. Celebrity is a bit more European and has better dining room food and service, but HAL is a close second. If fact, I prefer the Lido food over Celebrity's buffet. After 22 cruises, these two lines are our favorite!! Can't make a mistake with these two!:) Enjoy! Kel
CaliforniaDreamin Posted October 20, 2005 #14 Share Posted October 20, 2005 boards, We have sailed in oceanview - 172 sq ft, balcony - 172 sq ft, and Concierge Class Balcony 191 sq ft on Summit and Constellation. We do enjoy the 19 sq ft extra in Concierge Class. Though we did just fine in the 172 sq ft cabins, which the inside cabins are also. The 10 sq ft difference you are comparing should not make a great deal of difference. Of course if you feel it does, then it does.
Lsimon Posted October 20, 2005 #15 Share Posted October 20, 2005 Jill, Glad you liked the Summit as much as we do. Paul Strowe was great. Sitting in the open aft bar listening to a guitarist has has always been one of our favorite forms of entertainment on the Summit. But Paul is the best we've seen in our three summit cruises. I think your cruise was his second with Celebrity, ours the first, so he seemed unsure if they will keep him for the Hawaii cruises. But he sounded like he wanted to continue on for a while and I'm sure he'll be getting great comments on the evaluation forms, so hopefully he'll be on our cruise next March. He even has a web site http://www.paulstrowe.com/ You'll laugh when you see the pictures of him there!
Conanc Posted October 21, 2005 #16 Share Posted October 21, 2005 Hi Jill, We had a great time on the cruise but I can't believe we didn't get the chance to meet. I looked for you at the CC party for that yahooooooooooooooo you are so well known for. I heard that the aft bar was your hangout, but we went up a few times but didn't see you up there. I looked up a few times from our aft balcony but you weren't hanging over the rail either. :) Looking forward to your review -- glad you had a great time. I know we did! Nancy Hi Nancy, CC party was toooo early for us. :o Are you sure you didn't hear me hooting and hollering? Every time the guitar player (Paul Strowe) was singing, I was pretty loud. If you were on your balcony then, you would have heard me, I'm sure. My son had a midnight snack with Paul S. and he asked if the woman with the big mouth was his mother. (All in fun) Yup! That was me. I sure hope he is on the Summit in March. We really enjoyed him. Toodles, Jill
coleridge Posted November 26, 2005 #19 Share Posted November 26, 2005 Hi Jill, Now that you have had a chance to do the laundry,my question is, are there no laundry facilities on board the Summit? One post led me to believe there would be and since we are going on a 15 nighter, I would love to be able to do laundry. Hope you can let me know. Rare Lois R Posted November 26, 2005 #20 Share Posted November 26, 2005 Coleridge, I was on this cruise with Jill:) No, there are not any self service laundry facilities on any of the Celebrity ships. They do offer laundry service though, priced out per piece. Hope this helps. Oh, I brought my review back up here for you (at your request). Hope you found it.
