burtonsgigi Posted April 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2016 I've been as confused as the rest of you on the new casino program. I don't list my cruises on here anymore, but am 2 cruises from being Diamond Plus, just a fyi. I received one of those certificates for a free balcony cruise from my Oasis cruise in February, but the dates weren't working with my schedule. I noticed that it said I could book any date and $1,500 would be applied toward the cruise and my hubby also got one for $750. We booked Harmony 7-night leaving 12/3 and it ended up being $405.11 pp for a D7 balcony room, and this included all gratuities AND taxes! I believe the original cruise fare with taxes was $2,025.11, but they applied BOTH the $1,500 and $750, and this, along with our balcony discount and buy one get one half makes the final total $405.11 pp. Awesome price! One thing they did say was that they didn't think the free play we accumulated from our last Oasis cruise in February would be available to us now (which was $1,700), since we used the $2,250 offer, but to contact the casino host about 6 weeks prior to cruising. I'm still really confused with this new program, and the person we dealt with had to keep putting us on hold to ask his supervisor questions. Anyhow, I wanted to let everyone know our experience, as I know we're all kind of in the dark right now. Happy Cruising!
Panda3 Posted April 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2016 That sounds like a great price, I also got an offer from casino royale but it's not as good as yours. Mine is only $500 off. But using that on top of the current bogo and pre-paid gratuities is nice!! we basically are both sailing for $1500 for 7 days including grats for oasis of the seas in June. I was pleased with that. :)

What did the rep mean by your 'free play'.? Curious as it sounds like a cash rebate which they canned with this new program. I'm in the process of pushing for a few free cruises here in Aust. Had a good contact in the Aust Casino dept who has left and not been replaced so ever so hard now dealing with back and forth emails and the 13 hrs time difference. I rec'd a certificate in March which was first time as I would normally just ring a get on what ever cruise I wanted. Oh well I'll see what my request for Ovation brings. Only sent the email this arvo so have to wait till tomorr or so for answer. Cheers

You may want to come on over to where us CR VIP members live :) Great amount of knowledge http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2225432&page=33 There is also the thread on the Casino program changes http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2109620&page=34 On your $2250 rebates applied to your cruise that totaled $2025.11 for the both of you, curious how they charged you $405.11 pp That would of made the cost of the cruise $3060.22:eek: Anyways still a great offer;) Happy Days! That's what I was thinking, the math doesn't add up. If the cruise was $2025 and they applied the credits there should still be $175 left over,no? Lady Hudson Posted April 29, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2016 I also recently got a good casino rate. I am paying $442 for a solo cabin for a 5 day trip to Bermuda. When I asked about the C&A points I was told I would get them for the trip. I had previously heard otherwise. Anyone know? I will also ask on the other thread. Because they told me that my "free cruise" would have to have the taxes and the gratuities paid but other than that it was free.

When booking through CR all balcony discounts and BOGO offers are off the table. So unless they have changed how they operate for OP, it still makes no mathematical sense. Maybe the New program is allowing combinable offers for certain tier of players. As in our experience they have never been combinable. CR rate is calculated at a % deducted from previous play, typically from 18% - 40% off Full Fare, excluding Taxes, port fees and gratuities. I actually recently got near to 60% off a Royal Suite through CR, using no BOGO or balcony discount, was a no brainer:) We have booked our cruises through CR for past 15 years, have never received a BOGO match or our D+ balcony discount, and due to our play, even factoring those deductibles in, it is still cheaper to forego those and select CR rate. We are quite happy to give up the BOGO offers and balcony discount. Happy Days! Edited April 29, 2016 by PompeySailor

I've been noticing lately that the CR doesn't automatically beat the regular rate (after you add in next cruise/balc discount and the various offers they have at the time), so when you are on the phone with CR, they'll tell you just to use the regular rate if it's better but you can still have the cert applied to the cruise. We always do a mock booking before we call CR so we have a benchmark to work off of. We always factor in Taxes, port fees and gratuities to total FULL fare, and if any offers at the time including balcony discount. We end up with $xxxx.xx Always been above 18% for us, except once and agreed it will differ for others, all dependant on their level of play The one time it was cheaper was when the original BOGOHO came out 2 years ago:cool: Edited April 29, 2016 by PompeySailor
somerandomidiot Posted April 29, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 29, 2016 The one time it was cheaper was when the original BOGHO came out 2 years ago:cool: yes, once in a while those "sales" really mean in a sale :P i booked my b2b for dec 2016 last june when someone posted on here about a sale for harmony. got a D8 for approx 800 pp for each week. CR couldn't come anywhere near that price even 1.5 years out and that was back when my CR discounts were actually discounts...

Totally agree, when the NEW deployment for the year comes out, booking even 2years out seems to yield the better "sales" Always best to compare the Full rate and the CR rate:) Happy sailings:) Edited April 29, 2016 by PompeySailor
RFerrington Posted April 29, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 29, 2016 I have been on many cruises that were Club Royale discounted. I have always gotten the appropriate C&A points, including double points for suites.
RFerrington Posted April 29, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 29, 2016 We have had the same experience as PompeySailor. No discounts, other than the CR discount applied and it was always still a way better deal than using any of the existing BOGO or C&A discounts. The only exception was on the Empress which turned into a complete WCCF (credit to Bob). Twice cancelled...now on Freedom in June.
