Wow. As a newbie taking my virgin cruise in less than a month, this kind of thing just takes the wind out of my sails, so to speak. :) I may just hide my S&S card and stare at the ground the whole time as not to be be detected as a nuisance. ;)

I go on my first "Carnival Cruise" this Sunday.... I am well traveled, just have never done Carnival. Now I guess I should be embarrassed by having a Newbie card.... that is how the OPS beginning thread made me feel.

sometimes experience means something....experienced surgeon...experienced auto-mechanic.....experienced pilot......experienced lawyer...................experienced cruiser?? means nothing.........

I love the idea except for one little tweak. Leave the gold out of this. I am gold, have 9 cruises with Carnival under my belt and honestly, 95% of diamond and platinum's I have met are arrogant, can do no wrong attitude people. They complain about everything just to complain. I guess they feel entitled. Yes, carnival should have cruises JUST FOR THEM!

We'll just go, have a blast, ignore the people who think we're beneath them and hopefully keep our own reaction to minor annoyances in check. Because, I'm way too excited about this to worry about what other people think about me. :)

Some pomposity and snobbery at its best in this thread and, no offense, it's only Carnival. You don't see this stuff on Celebrity, Crystal, Cunard, Princess, HAL, etc.

Only on Carnival! At times, folks here give me reasons not to book my first Carnival cruise. Maybe Carnival will entice me with a gold card due to my status with Cunard. Good luck with that. Arnold Donald indicated he might do that when he took over, and how long has that been with no action?

Too many blues and reds? As Herbert O. Morrison said; "oh, the humanity!".

Before I get started, I know I will get flamed like a college bound fire before the big game. But I am going to ask the questions just to see what interest is out there.

We just got of the Sunshine's last 8 day cruise. I know all cruises include a lot of newbies, but as I had to go around a bunch of wandering red and blue cruisers on the Lido Deck and Staircases. I was wondering:

Would there be an interest for Carnival to create a cruise just for Diamond, Platinum and Gold Cruisers? This cruise would have special activities and beverage (as well as other items) prices. No newbies (red or blues) would be allowed. Just experienced Carnival cruisers.

This is just an interesting thought and I am not looking to create some big issue. But, I would be interested in being on a cruise where the passengers are as experience with Carnival as myself.

OMG. You should cruise Celebrity . CCL not snobby enough for you . On Celebrity they really think they VIP because they cruise this line. :p:p:p

Please .you don't know Celebrity VIP cruisers . :p On our last cruise lady in elevator complained how X did not do enough to meet people with umbrellas in port because it's raining. Her exact words :" They should send crew members to port with umbrellas,it's Celebrity it's not Carnival after all" :p:p

Thank you Lord for providing me w/ ignorant bliss on my first cruise...I thought that blue card was the color for my muster station. Please help me to fight the temptation of becoming an entitled, elitist as I approach platinum level.

After years of sailing on all different ships it's fun to see the same characters on each cruise. The entitled person, the constant complainer, the very loud person and so on and so forth. It almost like a game, make a list and cross off when you find them. You're more then likely to finish your list on every cruise. Like the title says "same people-different ship".

not even close. plenty of snobbery on the rccl and ncl boards. the sign and sail card may not be the give away but the attitude surely is.

and unfortunately, status doesn't travel across the carnival brands so your first cruise will be as a blue card holder no matter how man cunard, princess, hal, or other carnival corporation cruise lines you have sailed.

don't worry, most plats and diamonds i have met are not elitist. and i don't think the op is either. he/she just wished they would have a cruise dedicated to the more loyal passengers and i see nothing wrong with wishing for that. kind of like wishing for a child free cruise.....probably will never happen but it's nice to wish for it.

I understand child free but how is Platinum makes you better or more interesting to other people?

I'm red. You are calling me a newbie!!!!!!

We book suites, had one balcony only. I have spent about 16K in cabins on 4 cruises with Carnival, and this suite I just booked has come to 4k.

So I am red and will have spent about 20k in 5 cruises with Carnival.

but YOU want a special cruise because why? Because you booked seven $249.00 a person booze cruises and one 8 day?

That's special. I mean really, if there was a middle finger emoji, it would go right here ---->

What do you consider a "newbie" to be?

And you've been on Celebrity how many times? Once?

Indeed, it IS Celebrity, not Carnival. One comment from a passenger should not be used to judge a cruise line. Otherwise, bring a travel umbrella.

Just remember this though...just because someone has a BLUE card does not mean that they are new to cruising...just new to cruising on Carnival. We were 13 cruises in on Carnival before we took our first Princess cruise....and when we did, we got the dreaded BLUE card on Princess. We are going to be booking a Celebrity cruise for the end of next year, and even though we will have 22 cruises under our belt, we will get the dreaded NEWBIE card on Celebrity. Although I understand the concept of what you are thinking, I believe that it would be a terrible business practice. I am sure that carnival makes way more revenue on the NEW passengers, than on the previous passengers. I mean, whenever we cruise now, we don't get all the photos, or do some of the other things that we did on our first cruise. Just a thought.

He/she can be on the cruise with a bunch of 3 dayers who take lots of cruises because they live by the port and like interior cabins. (No offense to them, I say cruise how you like to cruise)

why not  why does it matter what somone's desires and dreams are

and how much you spend on a cruise is immaterial in determining how experienced or loyal one is.

Sine I'm a firm believer that loyalty should be awarded based on money spent, not how many cruise days I would think Carnival would loose money based on a gold, platinum, diamond only cruise. I know of lots of loyalty customers who spend basically nothing on a cruise...they often book last minute, are happy campers with cheap insides, don't spend much on dinner venues, spas, excursions (they often stay on board at ports), don't drink much and are happy just getting away for a few days...probably spending less than they do at home.

Of course I am basing my assessment on "people I know" but I think they are a pretty good cross section of many "loyalty" consumers.

I would think, in order for Carnival to make a profit, they would be thinking twice about limiting cruises to "long time cruisers" and if a non red or blue cruise was ever offered it would probably be a lot more expensive upfront.

Just my 2 cents.

Exactly right. We do chef's table, behind the scenes tours, upcharge restaurants if they have them, casino, bon voyage liquor, etc. we spend ridiculous amounts of money on our red card cruises.

I'm betting OP is a cheapest cabin/smuggle liquor in person.

Why are you defending this person? Are you the same as OP? Related? Curious.

Loyalty includes keeping a brand afloat (pun) and money is the most efficient way to do that.

so you're saying you're unhappy with the way carnival and every other major cruise line decides to award loyalty and you want it to be different because you spend 'ridiculous amounts of money' as you put it. and then you accuse the op of being cheap as if it were a bad thing. i am cheap, as cheap as i can be and would rather spend a month at see in an inside cabin than a week at sea in a suite. if you prefer to do things differently that's fine and dandy but don't complain when you are not rewarded for that......you know the rules and you know how to make them work for you and you choose not to.....that's on you.

oh, and how do you come to the conclusion that the op violates the rules by smuggling........

have no idea who the op is but i see no problem with their wants and desires. if you have a problem with someone having a fantasy and wishing it to come true wyou might need to do a little self reflecting.

the way carnival and the other cruise lines operate is known to all. you can decide to maximize what you get for your money or spend it freely. it's your choice.

see, no one likes getting judged by superificial issues.

Where would you all sleep if there were such a cruise? All the interiors would be booked and all the balconys and suites empty.

You would like a interior cabin only cruise of diamond and platinum people? A 3 day to the Bahamas from Florida perhaps?
